Unusual or specialised areas of interest

Think about this. If you like me go through life overcompensating for "ineptitudes" in areas such as reading people, social situations, and pretty much life in general (let's not put a fine point on it we are 1 in 160 - we do have to intergrate into a society made up of 99% neurotypical people) - where are your interests?
Left to your own devices what specialised areas of your life do you find to focus on. Obsess on even. Hey I do it. Most Aspies or HFA's do it and focus on it to such a degree (like a laser is to light) that we become very knowledgeable and specialised.
Hey good, bad or indifferent - I don't care.
What do you find enthralling?
Mythology, Science, creative writing, timetable, Information Technology, business - let me know.

Specifically,the contemporary lineage of avant-garde,experimental,and improvisational music "traditions",with a strong do-it-yourself,heuristic bent.Also unusual stringed and electronic intruments.Those have been at my core for many years.

Beyond that,varying obsessions primarily in the humanities and sciences.The obsessions come and go,anywhere from a few hours to several months.

It's not unusual for me to suddenly realize I am completely fascinated by Denali National Park,for instance,and scour the net for DNP information.The fascination is seemingly out of the blue,and the next day I'm indifferent about it.Last year I kept an obsession diary,too many to list here,but it included mechanical pencils,the science of artificial flavorings,B.Kliban,peaches,later Fellini films,and rural Norway.I must be assembling quite a scrapbook in my mind.

Art and Geology although I too many hobbies and interests to possibly find enough time in my lifetime to properly obsess. Too many obsessions, too little time.

Music is my greatest love. I have alot of obsessions, but they come and go. Music abides.

Hmm my last big obsession was 19th century Russian writers. I read Tolstoy, Dostoyevskey, Goncharov, Gogol, Turganev, and maybe some others, but not sure.

Music. I tend to get obsessed with a particular band for a period of time and listen to their music over and over. I also will just sit for long periods of time and daydream about different things I could draw or paint. I also used to be obsessed with ballet and I found out as much as I could about it. However, I don't enjoy watching ballet anymore because I notice all these little details that are off rather than just getting absorbed in the overall feeling of a particular ballet. I also don't like how the dancing is set to the music. They seem to be moving in time to the tempo of the music, but not actually feeling and moving to all the parts of the music. Now, I like to just imagine in my head ballet dancing how I want it to be. That way it can be perfect.

Routemasters.

I typically obsess over TV and movie characters, although there have been other things, too. For a while I was obsessed with a town here in Indiana so much that I convinced my mom we should move here! And we did! I haven't regretted moving here at all, especially since my life made a complete turn-around because of it!

Mathematics, art, geometry, fashion design, architecture, music and... Mineralogy, which is a good thing, since that's what I study.

Too many.

Wow, I always doubted that I had the obsessive tendencies of AS, because I was under the impression that there had to be one thing on which you focused for long periods of time. Like several earlier posters, I have strong short-term obsessions lasting anywhere from hours to months, many of which are recurring. Unfortunately, I often feel like like I never accomplish much or go "deep enough" with any of these interests, but maybe I shouldn't be comparing myself with people who do these things as professions.

I use the computer a lot!

mine flip flop, a lot-I kind of cycle through things, never fully losing interest-it's just that I'm not quite "as" interested as I was before.

Seed bead sorting (lol, I know-it's sad)

Drawing (anime I really like, but cannot create on my own-I just look off of stuff and draw what I see)

Music-I go on random music binges where I look up 10 bands I've never heard of and listen to their stuff

Making lists about myself (I come back to this one a LOT)

Making things/projects-currently my obsession is about to be making a board game called "Life Sucks Then you Die" for my aunt who found the idea quite humorous

Making T-shirt designs for me and my fam's shirts

Rearranging all of the furniture in my house over the course of a weekend (hey, it may not be considered an interest, but it's fun for some reason to do every once in a while)

Drawing tat designs
