I donj't believe in black-and-white nonsense. I don't respect cops, judges, guards, doctors, lawyers, teachers, priests or anyone else "intelligencia"... or anyone, for that matter. Well, actually, I respect everyone. As human beings. But don't respect anyone as an authority figure. I don't believe I'm inferior because I don't have a degree, and I don't believe I'm infrior because I don't follow the 10 commandments verbatim, and here's why.

If you destroy someone physically, you get life or death. If you destory someone in a much worse way, you get off scot-free. Justice? Only to an ignorant fool.

But they call me ignorant fool, because I don't have a conventional opinion or view. I have been called ignorant, stupid, even scary. That is part of what destroyed me.

Those ignorant bastards, following the 10 commandments but doing the most horrible, evil thing in the world.

Murder can get you the death penalty, but at least the person in question doesn't have to live in pain. Rape (assuming it's not also murder) leaves the woman in question scarred mentally for life, yet I've never heard of a rapist get the death penalty for rape alone.

Messed up world we live in, eh?

I agree with you Ana. There is no justice for us especially. People think we are stupid because we don't behave normally under stress and that makes us look bad when we have to deal with authorities. The court system sucks for us.

I can see where you are coming from, Ana, I think we need justice, but life plays some nasty games and justice doesn't always appear when it is needed. If someone has worked their way into a position of authority, through graft and learning, then fine, I will respect what they have done. If someone is a jobsworth as say a security guard or a traffic warden, and they have their "rules" and can't let something by, then I have little respect for them.

There needs to be law, otherwise there would be (more) chaos. But a lot of laws benefit certain types of people, and law needs to benefit everyone in order to work. Laws and frickin policies. As someone who is about to go into business with another, it frustrates me that this country (England) would rather I was a member of a big corporate body than try and show some independence. It's going to be hard to live for a while, but this career is something I want to do, and I don't see why someone who probably doesn't know I exist controlling me. Especially if he doesn't have the stones to let people decide whether he should be doing his job or not. I shall stop there with my political views, because they are mine and everyone is different, and should be allowed to think as they wish.

It's even more messed up when you consider that a Saudi woman who was gang-raped 14 times recently got a prison sentence and 200 lashes (following an appeal against her original 90-lash sentence) because she was travelling in a car with a man who wasn't a family member.

Admittedly, the attackers all had their sentences increased as well, but still... the woman was freakin' gang-raped, and she gets punished for it? Christ...

That's not messed up. That's beyond messed up. In the realm of delusional thinking even.

I hope you haven't really been destroyed.
Don't blame Christianity for bad people. A judge who lives the ten commandments wouldn't find in favor of one man stealing another man's property.
Having said that, some parts of our legal system could be thrown out completely and re-written from the beginning. A judge can only follow what the law prescribes ...
I also am outraged when someone hurts someone else, and gets away with it.
Child abuse in particular raises the hair on the back of me neck. I always say that if I was told by my doctor that I had some incurable disease, with six months to live, I'd personally serve a bit o' justice on my way out ...

What's to say the replacement system wouldn't be worse?

THAT'S the question that REALLY needs to asked. We all think we could do better, and certainly I'd vote for a lot less government, but exactly how to write a better legal system is a bit of a conundrum, isn't it?

Yes, and in that part of the world, women are treated like sub-humans.

Don't confuse "justice system" with "legal system"; most places have the former, not the later, and they are generally not synonymous (and are often contradictory).

Good fortune,

In Louisiana and a few other states someone who rapes a child can indeed get the death penalty.
