I loved disasters. I was disaster-happy as a kid. I loved the ice storm. When my mother and I lost our power, we went to my aunt Dolores's (they had power). Their power went out after we had been there awhile. Later, another time I was there, after the ice storm, we were renting videos and I chose one about an ice storm. We were watching it when the power went out! My mother and I went home the next day! I think the power went out another time we were there too! It got to the point where they didn't want us over because we might knock out the power! They also didn't want us over because we were depressed and depressing them, lol. Like Dementors, putting out the lights and causing others to become horrible depressives like ourselves!
When thye heard that the Pope died when I was at the Vatican, they insisted I'd killed the Pope.. lol!
We had one in 1998, in Quebec and Ontario. It was declared a state of emergency and people from all over, the Army, boy scouts, minimum-security inmates, doctors and nurses working round the clock, all were coming in to help!
Oh, I thought for some reason you might have been talking about ours. Here in SE Texas where it rarely even freezes, our ice storm was a big deal. But probably not nearly as bad as yours.
It was really cool though.
Even though 5 days without heat (or fireplace) really sucked.
I don't know about being a jinx, but I seem to have a tendency to stop clocks and watches working. I only buy cheap ones now as I know they won't last very long.
