I know that Aspies often have trouble reading people's facial expressions, and also trouble with social cues, but what about the auditory side of it, like understanding through someone's intonation whether they are sad or upset, etc? Problems with this is an AS symptom as well, right?

Actually, I am okay at reading facial expressions, but when I'm on the phone I am an Aspie! I can't figure out what the other's voice is telling me; are they bored, upset, why are they laughing...?

Oh yes.

I have trouble with both, but auditory is worse than visual with me. I really dislike phones and have since I was young. My family was much surprised when I started dating my wife and I would spend hours on the phone talking with her in the evenings. I had had never done this with any other women, so they figured that this meant that she was pretty special to me.
