She is on the AS board.

Though it should be known that very few of the people there agree with her methods. Thank goodness.

I don't always think it's a good idea to present other forums' conversations. You represented this as an "Autism Speaks" piece but "Sammy" is being chastised by virtually everyone in the thread. It's one thing to uncover a forum with a point of view you didn't know existed for "educational purposes". For instance, a while back there was a forum discussed that hosted "spouses of Aspies". You were only allowed to complain and commiserate about being a martyr. You were not allowed to disagree with the whining. That was educational because it was a whole movement that promoted a type of resentment against Aspies.

It's another to just display distasteful discussion like that where some half-wit brags about some idle threat they made to their kid. Just my opinion.

Actually, I didn't say that. I think I've been misunderstood.

I'm not gonna go read it, because I'll get really upset, no matter who she is, or where she's from. Some people just should not be parents. When I hear of a little kid being hurt, especially a special needs kid, I seem to over-empathize. It makes up for all the times that I didn't show empathy when I should've, I guess. I wish there was a way to report people like this to Child Protection Services. The child deserves better.

I think she may have meant the message board only? I agree it wasn't clear (but then, we're aspies. That happens).

That site has no place on the Internet in 2007/2008.

I can understand the need to stop dangerous biting, but if a child has sufficient interlectual capability to understand the threat, then there are other methods available. i make no apologies for highlighting the thread - this woman is in the wrong.

I don't know where any of you come from, but where I came from (California) that's child abuse. They kind they take the kid out of the home for. While whoever this woman is might be writing fiction on the board (a possibility), if I were the state authorities, I'd be all over her.

That woman isn't autistic, she's seriously nuts!

She certainly could do with some help with parenting skills. But being an AutismSpeaks poster she'll more than likely resort to Resperidal, Lupron or good ole electric shock treatment...
