Anyone have real problems with their gi tract. Im been having real problems lately so right now im just trying to go without food and dairy for 21 days. Its just since I was a sophomore in high school I have had real problems with either diarrhea or constipation. My cranial sacriel person said to try a certain cleanser, I have not used it yet but I will soon. On some websites they have talked about people with asperger's have ibs so I saw this other product that deals with ibs so I want to try it also. Has anyone else had real problems with their gi tract. Hope this does not disgust anyone.

Cranio-sacral people might help with a back or neck issue, but what do they know about the GI issues that are typical of autism?

I had a problem with fructose intolerance - it is like lactose intolerance that some get from milk. When I cut out the soft drinks and all the other stuff that is stuffed with fructose, my GI symptoms improved greatly. Your mileage may vary - there are food allergy issues, gut serotonin issues, etc that affect others.

I have had chronic, severe constipation and gas my entire life.
I have to be extremely careful about my diet- if I eat the wrong thing (or neglect to eat the right things) for just one day, it can wreck the next week or two.

My doctor said "IBS - take some Prozac."

Then when I documented the relationship between the offending foods and my symptoms, he said "Yeah, sometimes people are sensitive to certain foods."! !

Yeah I don't really know what foods upset me it can be alot of stuff or nothing at all. Pop seems to not screw up anything and milk doesn't seem to upset either, I don't know ill have to figure out and hopefully the doctor can figure it out. Anyone tried the 21 day juice diet.

I've been having problems for the last 4 months or so, which I've put down to IBS or similar due to the contraceptive pill messing my system up (have since stopped taking it) and not been to a doctor about. I hate doctors. I never realised there was an AS link though - perhaps I shall go, and let them know about my AS (as it won't be on my records as far as I know).

I'm intolerant to eggs, and I know milk isn't good for me at all so I avoid it. I only really eat fruit and vegetables, pulses, seeds, nuts, etc... healthy foods... so I've been at a loss to explain it.

Food diaries are a good tool to figure out certain dietary problems - use a day book or planner to record what you eat, and what your symptoms are.

My diet plan?

No dairy (unless Lactose-free or from Goat)
No pork
No luncheon meats
No "0 Trans Fats" snacks
No canned foods other than fish:

No more stomach problems =)

Well hey, that's what I found works for me

Really REALLY pay attention to what doctor you go to.

As we all know; some doctors only do it for the money and with a $350,000 average salary you can be certain that about half(I would say around 30%) of all GI Doctor's actually care about you and your bowel problems.

I'm not trying to be funny about this, you are developing what could be a very SERIOUS problem and you don't want to go to some guy(I've never seen a girl GI doctor) who only cares about getting a big paycheck.

As to the taking Prozac to cure IBS- That doctor is full of s**t. He is prescribing you Prozac because he thinks it is making you depressed. I could get into a long argument about how Prozac does or does not help with stomach problems but from taking it for 2 years and it not doing ANYTHING; I can say that the tests done are inaccurate.

To the poster above- That certainly won't work for everyone.

In fact, especially with a problem like IBS; it could be a grand multitude of things. Doctors only label a patient as "IBS" because they cannot figure out what is wrong with them.

IBS can be either chronic constipation or chronic diarrhea. Or Alternating. The real problem is that nobody knows what causes IBS so there is no cure or solution- Just what one doctor thinks will help which can be different from all the other doctors.

Many books have been written about the subject; but no one has been able to find out the cause.

I know someone online with Asperger's syndrome(he doesn't visit this site) and he had the same problem with fructose intolerance as a child.

I used to have a lot of food sensitivities. From about ages 17-20, I couldn't have pizza, spaghetti, rich sauces, milk, alcohol, ice cream, white soda (Sprite, 7-Up, etc.), or coffee at all, and sometimes other foods would randomly kill my stomach too. Some days, anything could trigger problems.

Fortunately- thank God!- I seem to have, at least temporarily, outgrown my stomach issues. I can eat anything I want now, pretty much. Imagine my joy when I discovered I could eat pizza again...!
