What kind of stimming do you all do? Does it help you focus on things like reading or playing video games? Do you rock back and forth?

Most uncontollable one would be a base peddle movement of my foot, only tapping the heel with my toes on the floor. Im not sure what else i do would be concidered stimming. I do play with my hands on knuckles alot, i broke my right hand knuckles doing this when im stressed out a little.

The first book I read after I learned to read was a bio of George Washington Carver in my classrom bookcase. I read it through then started from Page 1 over and over again and I am pretty sure that the teacher thought I was still trying to finish the book for the first time because I had just learned to read. I think I was asked if I wanted to read something more fun or pretty but that book about a black man scientist inventor was the first time I regretted someone was already dead and I couldn't meet him and be his friend.

I think my biggest stim is biting i have to admit, I bite my hands like crazy. Oh yes i also rock, flap, jump up and down, screech, pace, tap my leg and of course spin. I would have to say spinning is one of my favorite stims haha, i could spin all day hehe. There only stim that helps me through games and such is probably biting, i don't know why  .

biting the inside of my mouth (trying to stop that one)

swallowing a great deal when stressed

Always making a little funny noise when I arrive home and shut the door behind me, the same noise I make when I see my little boy every two weeks, it's like a arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr this is so great and lovely feeling

rubbing my fingers, feeling the nice smooth feeling

touching my mouth lightly with my fingertips

flicking my beard

eating crisps with ear plugs when walking down oxford st

o i cd just go on and on

Constantly spinning (and often dropping :p) my pen/pencil in class. I'll also be biting my nails and skin off my fingers without noticing if I'm focused on something and my fingers are in constant pain because of this... I'm sure I do a lot of other things but It's hard for me to notice.

My main thing I do is since I was like 3 (and I remember) I would lay on my side at night to go to sleep, but would rock back and forth. When I was little I could lay on my arm and do it, now that im heavyer and bigger its impossible to do it comfortably.

And for the poster above. Quick, possibly stupid question. your avatar. I am farmilar with logic (tho I have not had to deal with it in math in a number of years, but the 'V' what is that? I just though that the eqution is unsolvible but I figure it must be true logic I just dont know what the 'V' is. Heheh... sorry for the odd question.

I'm still working all of this out, but I pick my skin (dermatillomania) and tap my foot.

It means Or, "The statement A ∨ B is true if A or B (or both) are true; if both are false, the statement is false." I just took a screenshot of what was on my screen when I registered.. should find something else later :p

I tap my feet almost constantly.

I wring my hands or roll little bits of paper into tubes, especially when I am out in the big wide world.

I take 3-5 really hot baths a day when I'm at home. If it doesnt hurt its not hot enough.

When Im really upset I scratch myself and pull my hair but that doesnt happen very often any more, since I have learned how to avoid my triggers.

My stimming isn't too bad, but I would say the biggest ones would be leg bouncing or leg swaying (when seating, bringing my knees together and back out again repeatedly), touching my nose, touching my mouth with my hands, moving my arm so that the upper arm is straight up and the forearm is coming down from above my head and touching by upper back (I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about)... sometimes I rock or just bounce up and down a little, and sometimes I just lean way forward and stop without rocking (I find that position very comfortable when seated... relaxed the back muscles)... um... playing with my hair and facial hair if I have any at the time (lately I have been stroking my killer 70's porn star mustache like it's my job). Oh, and all sorts of things with my hands - rubbing my fingers, drumming on myself or other objects, doing abacus-like math calculations with my fingers.

Those are the main ones I've noticed! Probably sounds like I stim a lot, but I don't think I do most of them (such as touching my mouth) much or any more than your average person. Everyone has tics, some more than others

Picking at my thumbs or lips, biting my nails, swinging my arms back and forth, rubbing my fingers together against my thumb, cracking my knuckles, tapping my foot, grinding my molars, sucking in and biting the insides of my cheeks...

if i'm doing it all in unison look out

Also this sort of correlates with comfort devices...

I have a hoodie collection and I don't feel comfortable without wearing one. even on hot summer days. if i'm feeling really agitated or frayed I wear a big heavy faux-sheep lined jacket that is probably intended for subzero temperatures in Yellowknife Image

I twist my hands. A lot and often. It helps me calm down sometimes.
