Does This Sound Familiar? I'm Curious.

The following scenario happened twice when I was young (mid-1980s). The first occurence was when I was a kindergartener living in Connecticut and the other time was when I was a 1st grader living in Colorado. I had to repeat the 1st grade due to what my mom calls "lack of social skills," yet nobody has ever told me why the following happened:

I got taken out of class, along with another little boy and an adult. All of us go for a short walk, with the adult asking us a variety of questions. I am, of course, answering the questions disregarding the other boy and hardly giving any eye contact to the adult as well. We finish and I am put back in class.

Do anyone have a clue what this was all about?

It\'s funny you should mention it, It\'s made me remember something very similar from a long time ago. Almost certainly an Educational Psychologist, but the other boy? Don\'t know, maybe there to see how you interacted with your peers?

My guess was that the adult was a type of psychologist also and that the other boy was to see how I interacted with my peers.

I'm just wondering if this procedure could be connected to the Autistic Spectrum in some way, seeing as how I can never get any information out of my mom when it comes to all the reasons I was held back in school, this test, etc. The standard answer is always, "You had poor social skills."

No idea about the guy and boy, but I wonder if you could contact your old school and see if they have records that might shed some light on this, given your mom is being so unhelpful?

I saw a psychologist, and a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist ALSO asked me a LOT of questions! Very much like you. That happened when I was 6, and it was because I wasn't socializing with other kids!
