I'm not sure if this is an aspie thing, but I never liked holidays and I don't think I'll ever like them.

I'm the exact opposite: Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite times of the year, but not for the presents and definitely not for the crowds of people/parties. No, I like the holiday season because it's the only time of the year that I am truly happy: optimism breaks through my pessimistic shell.

This depends on your definition of holidays.

If you mean Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving etc then I can take them or leave them, it seems a lot of messing around to mark an event that occurred hundreds (or even thousands) of years ago.

If you mean vacations then the answer is NO. I hate all the hassle of flying, I'm not too keen on foreign food and I don't like missing all the decent TV for two or three weeks.

Looooove it!!

No work, giving presents to people (I love giving things to people and seeing them happy), good food, spending time with friends and family, relaxing, having a laugh, Christmas Eve drinks with all my closest friends, and did I mention no work?!

Oh, if we're talking about holidays in general... well, same thing really minus the Christmas stuff. Love em.

I love going to foreign countries too, though I hate airports. I love trying new food and seeing new places and doing new things and learning new languages and cultures.

Or just home holidays are great too. Any time you can relax and not worry about work and doing things is good by me.

I feel the same. I despise long breaks, but love little ones like Christmas. :) I still get so excited on Christmas Eve that I literally can't sleep the night before.

I only like Halloween. Other holidays are alright, too stressful though. People turn into major jerks, the so-called "normals" drive faster, push and get rude to store clerks. It seems the more into Christmas and "family" and social stuff-the more domineering, angry and rude they are.

The Christmas holiday has become so commercialized that very few people remember the true meaning of Christmas anymore.
One cannot even say, "Merry Christmas" anymore as it appears to be offensive now. What ever happened to "Peace on Earth and
"Good Will to All Men?" However, it is acceptable to say, "Happy Holidays" which actually is "Holy Day" by changing the Y to an i.

In the USA, we have Kwanza, the lighting of the Menorah for Chanukah, the Islam faith is allowed to celebrate their religious holiday but, "Christian" values and beliefs are frown upon in current times.

Years ago, people seemed more tolerant of one another...and their religious practices. Now, as crime rates soar and the nuclear family appears to be dysfunctional and disintegrating into single parent households, churches are being closed down due to low
membership while pornography, gambling and substance addictions skyrocket.

Personally I'm not a church-goer, but I really couldn't have put it better. Christmas is banned in a huge number of UK schools now, you can't say 'Merry Christmas', blablabla... it's terrible. Everyone's so concerned with offending other religions, but realistically I don't know one person from 'another religion' who cares about it at all. In fact most of them would return the greeting if you were to say Merry Christmas, and then wish you a Happy New Year too!

Intolerance in the name of tolerance is one of the worst things to happen, and it's getting worse and worse. 'Christian values' are being marginalised, and Christmas is when it becomes most obvious. And yes, I know the church has done dreadful things in the past, but for the most part those 'Christian values' are the backbone of a well-functioning society and common to most societies. To destroy them is to destroy what's left of any stablility in our communities and families.

I loathe holidays, but this might simply be related to the fact that up to this date, I've had to spend them in the presence of my aunt.

I'm indifferent to holidays, but I'm annoyed by the excessive advertising associated with them. For example, I'm tired of hearing constant Christmas music in every store, ads depicting Christmas themes, and everything being decorated in the same colors.

However, I must add that I like the Christmas lights in San Antonio. There's something delightful about strings of red, green and white lights on palms and citrus trees surrounded by flowers and cacti.

Any day/week I get off is liked by me. If I had the money I'd go places on vacation, and maybe even on holiday. But as it is, my family only gets together for a few hours on the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. And there aren't many of us here in Florida, only my mother, her boyfriend, us siblings and my nieces. My mom's boyfriend can be a dick and my #2 brother an ass, but overall it's an enjoyable time.
