Anyone else have trouble finding the right words to use when you're trying to say something?

Yes, to the point of creating very long awkward silences.

Oh, definitely!

I oftentimes wish I could carry one of those communication devices that let you type what you want to say. That would be much easier than, say, having to find the words in my head, put them in the correct order, ascertain whether they're even appropriate in that particular social situation, then somehow get my mouth to say them without stuttering or sounding verbally dyslexic.

Yes.

Luckily the people I talk to are used to it. I dumb things down when I talk (not on purpose). Like if I were to write something, I'd use a larger more complex word, but when I talk, I tend to talk so a 4 year old can understand. And actually, they say that shows a better command of the language, so I'll take it.

The Yoda sentence structure while talking is a favorite of mine. I head somewhere that most european languages are set out this way, its only recently that English sentence structure was reversed. So, that Middle English would sound much like Yoda speach, pronouciation aside. Ill stop babbling now.

Not if I have time to think about it.

Its funny you mention wanting a type computer because its easier to communicate. I was in a pizza place this summer talking to the waitress and she said she prefered to text message her boyfriend than talk to him, even when they were sittting right across from each other.

Just another example of how its becoming an AS world.

I have trouble remembering names of things and expect my NT friend to have a better understanding but get frustrated. Usually when I cant remember I just machine gun strafe the subject hoping I hit enough clues.

My favorite mix up was whwn I was trying to remember the name of a mutual friend and I said, "You know that guy that plays John Parkin in real life!" The mutual friends name WAS John Parkin!

Also sometimes I do the "Smurf" type talking.

"bring that Wing Ding over here and Wingy Dingy it up against that other Blim Blam, and Blammity Bling it ."

Sounds like Im rapping.

do you get it? The Smurf thing?

Nts do it too some I know just say profanity in the place of words. Thats why "four letter words" are so popular. I started to pick this up, my friend complained so instead of cursing I try using breakfast cereal names in place of cursing.

" Yeah and I had to listen to that Apple Cinnemoned guy and he said the most Crunch Poppy thing, he said it was MY Captain Crunching fault that things didnt work!"

I tend to get my words all mixed up because I'm speaking slower than I'm thinking. I just get all jumbled.

And yeah, I get the smurf speak. Bring me the smurf so I can smurf the smurf instead of smuring that smurf over there.

I use the word "thing" all the time because I can't get the word I want out. "Give me that thing over there" and I expect someone to know what I'm thinking.

I say a lot of things that go right over people's heads if I have time to think about it. I frequently don't have any response if put on the spot.

Sometimes.

I can remember the time I was talking to my mother back in May and I was telling her it was a fortunate my grandfather died because I got to come out and see them and I get to see my brother graduate now and Mom knew what I was saying but she knew how I was sounding so she corrected me by giving the right words to use. "It was a fortunate for me he died at the right time."

Or my ex-girlfriend. She thought that anything other then Disney was considered evil. That was part of the reason the relationship didn't work out.
