I have recently pondered an idea: the NeuroHierarchy. I got this idea from Nietzsche. It's a little easier to understand than philosophy, though.
MOST SUPERIOR

  • Genius (Asperger's syndrome and extremely high IQ are both implied.)
  • Polymath (Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, combined type, and high IQ are both implied.)
  • The Gifted Aspie
  • The Giftie (NeuroTypical!)
  • The Aspie
  • The Gifted ADHDer
  • Bright Individual
  • Schizotypal (Not psychotic)
  • Typical NeuroTypical
  • ADHDer
  • High-Functioning Autistic Individual
  • Learning Disabled (Specific learning disability)
  • Psychotic (Chronic psychotic illnesses)
  • Mentally ret*d
  • Low-Functioning Autistic Individual
  • Profoundly Mentally ret*d

most inferior

I can't read most of the smaller fonts. But....I have to say I do find this a bit offensive/snobbish. People hae different strengths, even mentally.

Given the source of your inspiration for the 'Neuro-Hierarchy' (Nietzsche) and given the uses and abuses of your Source's inspiration by other parties (Nazi Party) in history, am I right in thinking that this is a 'send-up'?

Yeah I'd have to agree with others on feeling that it is offensive/snobbish. I think the point of being a part of a large group of neurodiverse individuals is to accept everyone for their differences, not to classify them for their differences by placing those that are intellectually more capable vs. those that aren't. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and honestly... I'm ashamed to see someone do something like this myself. None of us is more superior to another. We're all who we are.

Yes, I agree, too. Sure, there are many gifted Aspies out there, but that doesn't mean that they're better than gifted neurotypicals, or anyone else. We're all who we are.

I think we all need to come to grips with the fact that some people are just more capable and talented than others. The NeuroHierarchy is what is. It's not saying anything bad about being inferior.

Nietche (IMHO) was about the randomness/pointlessness of value judgments on the societal level, and the need to make them on the situational level. Yes, he gloriefied the act of doing so on the situational level, but this is quite a general statement. I could take offense at more than one thing on your list (the ones that specifically apply to me, whether they be superior/inferior) simply because I don't beleive one can be "superior" on the objective level. On some grounds, yes, but not in the way it is implied.

There is just so many different types of giftiness!

Then you have people like my younger son who topped out in several subtests of the IQ tests, reads at an adult level, and writes at least four grades below level.

i was offended by that list too, why are ADHDs always lower on it than aspies? what's that all about? would you have put ADDs higher if you were one? i see no real logic in that list, nor any logic in the existance of a list at all.

oh and i like yours better Nicolai

Press ctrl and c together while pressing the + key that will increase the font size.

ADHD kids tend not to have the obsessive interests aspies have. ADHDers are also more sporadic and inconsistent in their work. They're the kids who run around the classroom saying random things. Aspies are focused and intelligent in their speech. I mean Asperger's syndrome is pretty much the stereotypical nerdy smart kid, the "walking encyclopedia." ADHDers are hyper, the Ritalin kids.
