Do you think it's an Aspie characteristic to join oddball groups(even though you may have nothing in common with the other members) on Yahoo (just for the sake of being different from mainstream NTs)?

I've been and I am on a few, but I never thought it made me "special". Surely many people, NTs and all, like some yahoo communities?

Well, I have been in some groups on Hyves (a Dutch version of Facebook). They look fun, but often I can't relate to the discussions. My feelings or thoughts on the subject are completely different. After a while I lose interest in those groups, I just can't fit in.

In one other forum I am still active, but that is because I know a lot about the subject. I am considered there something like an expert. But I still annoy some people with my reactions. (please send me a PM if I do that here... and please try to explain)

I'm in a couple slash fanfic lists on yahoo and they're just awesome. I've been there for years. I've even written a few stories for them, and met with one of the members in Paris during my trip there on vacation. We had a wonderful time together.

I am a member of a couple of oddball groups, mainly to do with TV presentation and the like.

I recently joined a group devoted to long distance running, although I'm not a runner myself. It was located on a Roger Bannister website. I know everything about famous long distance runners of the past and present, even though I don't have the stamina to run myself.
