I've been seeing a therapist off and on for about 8 years. What I've learned is it's important to find someone you're comfortable with. If you have an option to try different therapists, I suggest you do so. Staying with a therapist is like marrying someone, you gotta find someone you are comfortable with (with an outlook on the long-term). As aspies, we often find that difficult in general (being socially comfortable), but remember, the therapist office is a controlled, private environment. You have more control and freedom in there than out there in the real world. It's an opportunity to be yourself and finally tackle some tricky issues in your life. Like any scientific or belief system, therapy is not a perfect answer to life's problems, but try it out. If it works for you, then great. If not, try something else. Also, don't be "persuaded" to start taking medication unless you've really thought about it and decided to bear responsibility for the choice to try medication. Medication is a big step with unforseen negative/positive consequences. Good luck.
