anyone else here have that, and if so do you tell people? I have face blindness and I wonder if everyone can tell bc I have a tendency to stare at a particular feature (like one eye, more than that is overwhelming for me)

Yes, there has been mention of prosopagnosia from time to time. Here's a thread from 2004:

This is from last month.

I was just thinking about this again last night. And the embarrassing mistakes I've made throughout life.

Since I learnt of my AS, I have taken to telling people when I don't recognise their faces. 'Oh, sorry, I didn't recognise you, I have problems with remembering faces ' in a light sort of way and then if they want more explanation I'm happy to say more.

Trouble is, people are often upset that you don't recognise them - they take it personally.

The visual recognition of a face is usually no problem for me, but I'm a dork when it comes to remembering which faces have which names. And if it comes up, I say so outright: "Hey don't you remember me?!" - "Yup, I'm just no good at remembering names. That's a general problem; please don't take it personal..."

I have it to a small degree. It has caused me a bit of embarrassment.

I have a very hard time with facial recognition when dealing with people I don't see every day.

It can be very embarrasing. It has been the cause of panic attacks.

I often recognise people because of their clothes.

I also never remember names.

LOL

Mine are swarming in now :)

I recognise faces and remember people's names without too much of a problem but sometimes can't really place where I've seen them before.

It's so funny - a few days ago at work I went to a meeting. When I got back, one of my managers asked "Did Richard go along too?" I had to admit "I don't know, I can't really remember what he looks like!" So my manager had to walk over to Richard's desk and ask if he went, and it turned out he did! He's based in our department, but as there's so many people and I don't work with this Richard, I didn't recognise him well enough to know if he was at the meeting!

So that's common in AS? 9th grade, I had hundreds of people talk to me throughout the year I had no idea who they were.

I guess I have it. I sometimes confuse the characters in the same movie. I don't tell anyone as I don't think it's that severe or a big deal.
