Having come out of denial from reading lots here & elsewhere, does anyone have any meds they suggest?
I was thinking of a very low dose of Prozac.
also considering:
Xanax or Lithium, but doubt they prescribe lithium anymore.
I function very, okay petty normal, hiding the aspie traits, but I seem to really be getting more and more wound up. I never use to have insomnia now that is becoming a problem. I tried homeopathic herbal solutions and don't seem to have the results I seek.
Thank you in advance & Happy New Year.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

There is no one or even two types of meds that anyone should suggest to you. We're all different, there is no cure. Too many comorbids and out side influences to be accurate and the net isn't the place to do it. Don't go down the med road unless you really have to, it isn't an easy road at times and that is a big big understatement. But, there are little coping tricks some of us use to get by with some of the lesser reminders of AS.
I use white noise to help with sleep. Has your schedule been switched on you? Are you fixating on one thing? Maybe a bit more information about what is going on?
Oh they prescribe lithium, trust me and it didn't treat me very well either.

Makes sense, most likely a temp thing. I've heard good things about a very low dose of something like Benadryl, works on me with the lowest. But like I say, temp and read about it first. It's over the counter here, or was, hell I don't know anymore. Maybe a shot of booze maybe a good 3 hours before bed? I'm sure you're watching the caffeine. Exercise a bit more before bed or during the day? I'm sure someone else will be along with something that might work better for you. That's one of the great things about WP.
My mind race wasn't temp and it only was recently that it is semi under control. But man, do not go down the med road if you don't have to. Well over a 10 years to get something that helped. Might have helped to have a correct DX first, but I guess we stumbled on to something anyway.
Strapples you'd better up your dose of battery's, they ain't workin dude. Oh yeah, be sure to get your blood work done, Lithium is toxic. Even the stuff in the little pills they so delightfully give you. Really fun stuff.

I concur with the person suggesting Benadryl (Diphenhydramine hydrochloride)--it's safe, over the counter and it's always worked when I have trouble sleeping, along with a warm glass of milk.
Xanax is highly addictive and Lithium is more for mood swings if you have bipolar.
I would recommend no meds. I plan to study biology in college, and it is quite frightening how little we really know about how the body works. Much of our biological "knowledge" becomes obsolete nearly as quickly as our computers. Never take drugs that are new to the market, and even after a drug is well-established you'll want to do some intensive research on your own so you know what you're taking. All in all, it's usually too big a gamble trying to take any drugs unless they have a clear, well-defined purpose and consistently achieve that purpose (i.e. antibiotics). Scientists don't know yet what exactly some of these drugs will do to you, and for me that's enough reason to look for other ways of dealing with Asperger's.

darn ir mozilla closed before i had this huge post, darn
suffice to say i am on 6 st john wort a day and some SAM=e for mood contol i have my meltdown and temper tanrums under control but still feel WIRED constantly and only having about 3 cups of coffee a day and no pepsi glutin no or lil dairy use & little sugar junk foods exercise about 45 minutes a day and lost tons of fat and still losing BP is really good now and still not needing BP meds - don't smoke cig or pot or do drugs, but I just thought i should get something stronger then st jons wort. I heard Temple Grandin has used Lithium for yrs with success she said it felt like i went from doing 200 mph to 65 mph. that is how i feel i get wound up about silly simple things go like 220 mph about it or i am a problem solver and try to see in the future and past peple motives whiuch is hard for an Aspie, you know to read people and motives, devious bastards,

No, Temple Grandin was on imipramine and desipramine more for anxiety--she is definitely not bipolar. Three cups of coffee still sounds like a lot of caffeine. If you're thinking of something stronger than St Johns Wart definitely confer with a doctor first but make sure they understand ASD so they don't put you on massive doses of anti-psychotics which is apparently the latest trend for BP.
