I am not sure if this is an Aspie thing, but do you get attached to certain foods for days or weeks at a time?

For example at lunch if you like to eat a hot oven Italian grinder or a certain Chinese food dish day after day and not get tired of it.

Are there foods you used to like in the past but simply don't care for anymore?

I used to eat those a lot too! They're good. They also make them at Wetzel's Pretzels and I like them even better there.

I have a lot of long term attachments to food too. Probably a quarter of my diet for almost my whole life is chicken sandwiches from Burger King and BLTs that my Mom makes. I'm not a very healthy eater but I like food I'm comfortable with.

I thought they stopped making bagel dogs, at least the pre-packaged ones in supermarkets. Where did you find those? I loved them too.

And Dr. Slice. Damn you Pepsi, bring it back!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !

Auntie Annes is actually a pretzel place so the hot dogs are wrapped in pretzel like bread.

Ironically, I HATE pretzels.

Sigh

I've been on beef-jerky hunt lately, sometimes buying it even when I find it unappetizing

Yes.

I do have attachments to certain foods.
My latest one is my mothers home-made vegetable and potato wedges....and vegan dumplings which are bought from the store.

I have vegetable and potato wedges for breakfast and vegan dumplings for lunch everyday.
Not very healthy I suppose...maybe thats why I feel ill lately

I practically live on dried pasta/powder mixes, like mac and cheese or the Sidekicks pasta things. There's something about them that is just delicious. I would live very happily on those and refried bean burritos if people would let me. *sigh*

I have sushi every day without fail. Accompanied by a raspberry smoothie. And if there's no raspberry smoothie it has to be mango. And if there's none of those I fret for a bit, before I realise there's still some freshly squeezed orange juice, and get that instead.

GOLDEN GRAHAMS. Oh my God. I can't enjoy them anymore. I went through this phase where I ate like 3 bowls a day, and if I try to eat them now they're almost kind of sickening, even though that Golden Graham phase was years ago.

But to answer your original question, yes, definitely. I go through phases of "obsessions" with foods just like I do with my random interests. Sometimes my interests even correlate with my food obsession. I'll go through several weeks where I'm obsessed with nutrition and buy only the most expensive, all natural wheat bread I can find. The nasty kind with all the seeds and oats on it, you know what I'm talking about. Stay away from the MSG and high fructose corn syrup. Then the obsession passes and it's back to eating whatever. Definitely worn myself out from quite a few foods though.

I was wondering about Slice myself.

My apartment is right across the street from a popular local Chinese buffet that has awesome Pepper Chicken.

I am hooked on Chinese buffets--well, any buffet period.

fortunately at the moment it's mostly healthy stuff. I have the same breakfast every day and the same snacks during the workday. Most days I don't eat a real lunch or dinner. I can't believe that there are people who like to eat different things every day... it seems so confusing & such a waste of time to think "hmmm, it's time to eat, what should I eat?" It seems so much more efficient to go for the same things.

I only eat organic and natural. I guess you could call that an obsession.

For the past 4-6 weeks I've lived on toast with mayonnaise and this meat-topping.
