Does anyone try on 5-6 of the same size article of clothing in order to get the perfect fit? It makes sense to me. Not every piece of clothing that is the same size fits the same. I don't think neurotypicals do this though.

Women do this all the time. One size from one designer is not the same size from another designer. Each size is sort of the same size, maybe. So women have to try on many different pieces of clothing the same size. Am I right, ladies?

I do it and I'm just and Adder.
My daughter hates going shopping with me because I have her try on several things 'just in case' the next one fits better.

i had to go shopping today to buy a new pair of climbing shoes. i have morton's toe* and really lanky feet. it was hard f*cking work but came home with something i can hopefully use thanks to dedicated and well experienced staff.

i think i have the same problem with most clothing - unusual body shape and extreme tactile sensitivity.

so yes, i tried on every boot in the shop but it was worth it. hope i don't have to go anytime again soon.

*that is where second toe is noticably larger than 'big toe' TM

I do but that's becaust its true that not all medium sized T-shirts are going to fit the same.

I wish it wasnt this way so buying clothes online would be a lot easier.

hehe, no! but I used to try on (especially jeans) clothes maybe 3 times because manufacturing is different. Nowadays, basically, by the time I work the nerve or resolve to GET TO THE STORE I only need to find something that relatively fits; and then whoosh outta there.

:-)

uh-huh,

you should be able to send a scan of your self in with an idea of your tastes. they should send you an e-mail notice saying your x t-shirt is now 5 years old, perhaps you would like to reapalce it with a x size, z fit t-shirt. we can send you a sample, please return with in x days for a refund. etc.

I would because I want to make sure it's comfortable. But I usually don't need to try that many on to get it right.

I've never figured out how to return stuff to online stores and I'm too afraid to go a post office and ask them for step by step instructions on where to go and what to do to send it back

Isnt that sad? :P

Sometimes. But more to chose the most comfortable garment.

I.E. 5 identical t-shirts... sometimes the tag sticks and itches too much on one of them, sometimes the seams are more prominent and are annoying. If they have been pre-washed there can be a varying in the amount of annoyance from the detergents used.

Out of those 5 otherwise identical t-shirts they can range from itchy and intolerable through to "OMG! my new favourite!"

I buy my clothing online.

I buy tagless t-shirts from Hanes' online store.

Champion's online store has t-shirts whose tag is at the bottom on the left part of the shirt(so it rubs up against the outside of your pants rather than the back of your neck).

Buying shirts directly from Hanes/Champion is cheaper, and you don't have to go into a store and have someone follow you around and offer to "help you".

I am usually a size 6-8 [NZ sizes] in pants. If I want to try on pants I will grab both of them sizes and try both of them on to see what fits best.
Shirts, usually a small...haven't been anything other than a small for two years so it's made shopping a LOT easier as I generally don't like trying on clothing anyway.

You'd be silly not to, whether you've got sensory issues or not. The so-called "standard" sizes can vary considerably from one garment manufacturer to the next, and even within a garment factory, depending on who drafted the patterns, and which cutters and seamstresses are working.

u gotta . different brands have different sizing arrangements. in oz the sizing guidelines are so old that nobody bothers to follow them anymore.
