Are you a believer (religion, sect, cult, whatever)?

To what extent?

Christian, somewhat religious and moral.

Don't belong to any church... socially it's difficult for me there.

Hey Pugly! Would you like to mark it on the poll?

satanism is closest to am because ALVs' bible makes a lot more sense to am than any other religeon ever did.
am couldn't say am full satanist though as am still think there are parts of other religeons that sound relateable[?] to.

Hi Greentea.
Im a Christian, yet I feel the only way for me to follow Christ is to liberate Christ from Christianity. im in a group called the Catholic worker, we have a cafe in Hackney in London, and we are a very diverse group of people, some with faith some not, but all inspired by the anarchist and pacifist teachings of Jesus.

Travel gently

I picked the last option, because I'm skeptical of authority and dogma.

I think a lot of religion has come to be more about executing the perceived will of the almighty, rather than teaching people to find love for life and love for each other.

criss, that's what I believe in. I often take the train to Jerusalem and walk around the places Jesus used to walk, and really feel a connection. But not in the way the West has made him, but in the way you say.

Pugly, I know! I found it just after I asked, but didn't want to say (as voting is to be anonymous)

I am not religious in the modern sense of the word, but I am very spiritual... unforuantly none of those poll options reflect my beliefs so I selected the last one.

EDIT: Going off the note NeantHumain made below, your poll seems highly biased towards a certain western religion...

I don't know what you mean by "I am an atheist but believe in a Higher Power," but if that "higher power" is just "God" phrased differently, that's not atheism. I know the hot dog company Hebrew National advertises that it answers to a higher power, but in that case, it's the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). I am completely nonreligious and do not associate my nonbelief with any other person's opinions or any other institution. That said, I do not hold some contemptuous opinion of religious people (or at least not all religionists). It's just that for me the religious questions are not the interesting questions in life. I'd rather not be the militant arheist spending all his time debating and defending; I'd rather just enjoy life.

I'm an atheist and I don't believe in a higher power. But neither do I believe that religious groups are in fact corporations. So none of the above applies to me.

I follow the Marxist view that organized religion is the opiate of the masses.

I picked the second option.

But I should also mention that I've invented my own religion, and I'm the only one who follows it (or knows its details). Suitable shorthand might be "polytheistic pagan". As long as people don't bother me with it, I tend to respect what others believe, from atheists to the most devout monotheists.

Good fortune,

- Icarus the Heathen
