Good afternoon!
This is MadMama. I wrote back in December and told everyone that my 12-year-old Aspy son was having problems with his school. There were lots of "hits" to my post. We received many comments. I find myself asking for your help again.
We spoke "unofficially" to the prosecutor's office to try to educate them about Asperger's Syndrome, and to try to get them to drop the charges against our son. We have retained an attorney who specializes in cases involving autistics and Asperger's clients. He tried, without success, to get the prosecutor to drop the charges. Our son is scheduled to appear in court in the morning on January 29 in Brown County, Kansas. Actually, our attorney is trying to get the date changed, as he has a conflict and has a case that same day.
Anyway, I was wondering if there would be anyone interested in coming to the courthouse when we do have to go. It would be great if we could have a big crowd of people there, not just to support my son, but to support all Asperger's folks who have been unreasonably prosecuted! I would certainly be interested in talking to anyone who would be within driving distance on court day. Thanks!! !
