Guys, everyone out there, there is no cure for Aspieness! I personally do the Dore/DDAT program, and even though sensationalist news programs (Oprah, 60 min etc.) say it cures it, it doesn't. It simply improves certain skills that 'we' may find hard. (A.K.A, copying stuff of the blackboard, balance, H-E coordination, etc.) Does that change our character, our ways of thinking? NO!

There is no magic herb, no behavioral therapy, no nothing, that can take away out aspieness. What would the world be without us? And, how can a plant take away our opinions, our specialness, our precious gift (or curse?) It's sickening! How can they patronise us like this! Anyone else agree?

(BTW, Sorry to rant and rave.)

What is the Dore/DDAT program? What techniques does it use?

(Oh, and good to see you back, Soma... is all going well at school?)

The Dore program is actually advertised on the site, down underneath the main menu, or go to the website/type on Google or something. I have to do exercises twice a day, really weird type, but it's to aid my cerebellum, the thing that controls sensory imput, focus, retieval of information etc. It's proven, but it's aimed at ADDers, Dyslexic/dyspraxic, and not so much for us. But yeah.

Schoolwise, well, I've done a topic on that in the school board. Not good.
Great to hear from you!

Soma,

Once Alex returns, we are going to see if we can limit what types of ads google shows. I am sure Alex wants ads that the site users will actually click on rather than get angry over.

And until Alex returns, we can all just ignore the ads if we wish. No one ever said we had to read what the ads say.

Yes no-one has to read it but it looks hypocritical to bash all the companies making a profit out of autism "treatment" and calling Asperger's a "disease" then not speak out about them advertising here. I am actually not that bothered about the advertisements myself but i can see how others might be offended.

i agree, eamonn.

i mean, no-one has to read anything on here, but that's not really the point, is it? it's the principle of the thing.

If you have firefox installed you can block the ads by installing the adblock extension and setting your filter accordingly.

I think there are definitely treatments and strategies which can improve one's functioning in certain areas. But once you're born autty, you're autty till you die. And in between you hopefully have a very fulfilling life. :D

Yes, there is no cure, but it can be helped. I am doing very well with my social sills thus far.

It is modern day quackery and the dissapointing fact is so many believe in these quack cures.
