Probably a combination of overactive saliva glands, an unawareness of it, what to do about the problem, and why he should care about it.

It would seem many of us are clumsy. I am, and even at fifty four I must be careful when eating or I will drop food right out of my mouth.

Am dribble a lot,am don't realise it,usually because am thinking anywhere else but there, inside mind but not outside, can't process more than one thing at a time.

Another reason that can cause dribbling is some medications,a medication am used to be on [gabapentin/neurontin] numbed one side of face so much it made dribbling so much worse, like stroke,if son is on any medications, have a look on internet to see if numbing is one of the side effects.
