I kinda took a licking the other day at one other major forum I visit so gonna stay clear of them.

Some pretty vicous folks dwell on the web. Most of it came from my peculiar Aspie traits I am convinced.

I am gonna just kick it with you guys for a while as this place helluva a lot nicer and I have whole bunch of reading to do in threads here and keep my big mouth shut. /smiles

I suffer from that trend to overly open up or post too personal stuff, in the NT mindset or ask the same questions and then called creepy or weird. I am almost totally banned there because of board fights with others. I now refrain from saying much.

Welcome. It's a lot more civilized here than a lot of other forums [fora?]. Would you care to name the offending board?

Oh yes, there are. I de-membered myself from two web sights for "aspies". One person kept setting off my punching triggers on purpose (and yes they knew about it.), and the other called me a "bigot" just because I didn't play along with his senceless flameing on some poor girl. No proof on their part, of course. The fights I had in them hurt alot. Just about everytime, almost, someone wanted to fight with me beacuse they misread what I put. So, for being beat up, I have certainly been there.. leteraly.

So what was the subject before you quit? You don't need to answer that I you don't want.

Yes i have n most NTs forums tends 2 b a lot of bitchin where as WP its a lot more safer.

I've noticed places with responsible and skillful moderation tend to be better regardless of the topic.

Some places are a free-for-all, and that applies well to some autistic people's sense of liberty, but it really just allows flamers to run the place.

Gosh thanks for the posts folks, I was venting here more than expecting this, well as I said very nice lounge here and gawd the threads that interst me are endless, I could spend hours just reading and already have initially upon joining and interfacing with many of you folks. See my weird posting style, interfacing with you, been bashed for that also.

I am a touch cookie though and don’t take much off NT anymore, I almost see them as another species, weird huh? Well I better not offer the site up that did it, as so many nice understanding friends have lent an ear more than once.

LB my last issue and gods-be-good I won’t start another thread there in General Chat was about medication and going on it. Good gosh I got grilled and one lady just nuclear enema’d me with all my pasts sins and being sick n tired of my whining, which I rarely do imho, and so on and on. Whe I said I am sorry in the post and attempted to p.m. her with full apologies she’d blocked me from a p.m. and alledgedly we were buds and she was the one who used to always p.m. me when returning to the board from some sabbatical, so yeah – okay it hurt, but to hec with her and the others.

Others just rallied behind quit askin’ for medical aid or advice and see a doctor, the mofo’s had not even asked it I had made an appt with a shrink already, which I had sorta spoke with, they just NT assumed. Funny was I posted the same exact verbiage here a few weeks ago and got wonderful response and advice. I also got accused of being creepy for asking such personal information, for goodness sakes no one was forcing them to post!

Oh and constantly get ribbed, some teasing others are outright rude about my strange writing posting style and my lack of writing skills.

Funny thing on two other forums, this is lmao funny lol, I was nicely asked if I was French and if that was my primary language and English 2nd? as they said I posted or wrote like a French boarder or two they know. How strange.

I have, but life's too short for all that stuff. I left and never went back. It was their loss in any case. I will not suffer nincompoopery.

I recently came out on a board I moderate (in the mod-section) and one of the mods there later used it against me. So, yes.

On the non-AS-related forums I visit, people try to bicker about inconsequential things, even when they seem to know that they are wrong. For example, if I say, "This record came out in 1971. It says so on the insert," someone will reply, "No, it came out in 1969. You can tell by the length of that guy's hair in the cover photo." In other words, the arguments are so trivial and nonsensical, I just laugh.

On some of them, you're expected to try to be funny all the time, even if you fail miserably, and people who use bad grammar are considered more entertaining. Excessive emoticon use is encouraged. There's also a general disdain for literacy. If you refer to books and post links to academic research publications, people write you off as a snob.

To get back to the real question, no, I have not been seriously attacked on any other forum, at least not that I know of. I just get the sense that I'm less popular on some.

Well EvilKim from your post obviously your very literate so perhaps that helped. The sense of humor thing, okay I don’t consider myself stupid and score just fine on IQ tests but often I don’t get the joke or get it quickly or at all and I am often attacked for no sense of humor, although I do think I have one, how in the hec can we trust our own judgements or is it just an NT mindset or the whole darn thing is subjective.

Some forums are like cults.

I recently returned to one other medical related board that I frequented for a while (I knew it was sometimes rough and tumble, one reason I left). With a new screen name and no information about who I was, I was immediately greeted with insults. People told me they would keep an eye on me, that I had no chance to advance my 'agenda.' The fact that I sometimes edited my posts right after posting them alarmed a lot of people. Some sent me personal messages, asking if I was this person or that person, who were trolls. When I wrote back that I was not, but that such paranoia might explain why I was treated so poorly, that was taken as proof that I was that person.

Hopefully, there are other boards for whatever condition took you to that board.

I've left a number of forums for this reason - one is listed on my Aspie Enemy list, and the owners of another two (one of which I was banned from) are also listed there. As a general rule I hate leaving forums because walking away can be seen as cowardly - but as long as there's a replacement it's OK.

I have been beaten up on forums before, aspie ones too. Aspie or not, you can get beat up by anybody, even aspies. I'm done calling as*hole behavior and bullying behavior NT behavior. hearing aspies complaining about how bad they are treated by other people, yet they turn around and beat me up, what a joke. They b***h about NT behavior and they turn around do it themselves.

Be like me complaining about people never finishing their stories online but yet I do it too. Doesn't make any sense to complain about something if you do it yourself.
