so they called them greifers, literally forums and groups of trolls, most famous for spamming places like EVE online and SECOND LIFE. the section i am about to show you is talking about sites that they have listed at the communities, who have given them the right response and are possible attacks, look specifically at the bolded one. hey, atleast the sight called them sicopaths...

Quote:
To see the philosophy in action, skim the pages of Something Awful or Encyclopedia Dramatica, where it seems every pocket of the Web harbors objects of ridicule. Vampire goths with MySpace pages, white supremacist bloggers, self-diagnosed Asperger's sufferers coming out to share their struggles with the online world — all these and many others have been found guilty of taking themselves seriously and condemned to crude but hilarious derision

Something Awful and Encyclopedia Dramatica are to greifer groups...

Yeah, I got my latest copy of Wired, and when I read that I thought, "hey that's me"

yes, that's it, they dont say WRONGPLANET, they just say 'self-diagnosed Asperger's sufferers coming out to share their struggles with the online world' but it's obviously us, we are one of the largest of the few in that category and we have had numerous greifer problems.

Well, there are other groups. Not as big as this one, but maybe we (Alex) could invite Wired to do an article on this site, because most of this is a big support site, and we don't condone our members spamming anyone.

I have memberships in other boards, but I purposely don't use my "handle" here, because I don't want to leave us open to anything if one of my opinions happens to antagonize some of the idiots who populate the political boards. So as much as I like my "handle," I have two others for use elsewhere, and they don't appear anywhere on WP.

Cheers

OK, I read the article (Thanks for the link) and I think the writer contorted himself into a pretzel to try to be even-handed. He even seems to like the esoteric thought that 'trolling will teach those idiots who take the internet too seriously.' (my paraphrase)
My opinion is: You can intellectualize trolling or griefing all you want, it's still a nasty action done by nasty people. If the trolls want to get together and troll their own sites, I don't care, but they ought to have the common courtesy to leave my sites alone.

My opinion: Encyclopedia Dramatica needs to DIE.

I'm a member of ED. But I don't troll places.

I think ED is damn hilarious, but that's probably just my twisted sense of humor...

There was an article on Fark that dealt with AS and the first thing people on their boards started to do is rail against people who self-diagnose.

I think ED is hilarious too. WP takes them too seriously.
