Socks. Feet. !

I have a love/hate relationship with socks. My feet are probably the most sensitive part of my body, and if my socks are uncomfortable, I am not happy. (Most of my sensory issues are tactile.) I have had thousands of pairs of socks; I have found about 5% tolerable. I have more problems with socks than with any other type of clothing.

I have such unhappy memories of uncomfortable socks, especially from when I was a kid and didn't have a lot of choice in which to wear. If they don't fit perfectly, or if there is something touching my foot that shouldn't, I am in complete agony and cannot think of anything else. I especially have problems with toe seams.

As for shoes, I only wear tennis shoes or flip-flops. Practicality and comfort are top priorities. I am completely unfeminine in that aspect. I can't imagine wearing different a different pair of shoes every day. I hardly ever wear women's shoes. (I think I own two pair now, and they are my least favorites.) High heels? 8O

But I love socks! They are so irresistible.

What kind of socks do you wear? Shoes? Do you hate socks/shoes? Are your feet hyper- or hyposensitive? Are you okay with going barefoot?

(As for the last for me: only outside.)

I can't stand being barefoot because my feet get cold easily. At home I'm always wearing ankle-high socks as well as slippers.

Oh, and I HATE sandals, I'm never comfortable in them, I don't like the feel of them on my bare feet.

My feet are problematic only when I get wound up and confused. Tonight I'm particularly foot crazy. My shoes were bugging me so I swept my whole flat 4 times so I could go barefoot, it still felt gritty, then I tried socks. This bothered me, so I put on some socks and wore my roommates shoes, this helped because he has much bigger feet, but then my heels were rubbing. I always avoid stepping on cracks, because I can feel them through my shoes. I wish it wasn't winter, because I would love to go to a park and walk barefoot in grass. I like grass, but it has to be a park, because they have more uniform ground. I don't like rocks.

I had a huge issue with tights and dress socks from when I was a baby onward because of the toe seams or if they got twisted up in my shoe. I would find the nearest adult, point at my foot and yell "fix it!" and cry miserably if they wouldn't. I spend alot of money buying expensive athletic socks that are warm, comfortable, and breathe well. I usually only buy athletic shoes too. Teva is my favorite, and ssometimes Vans. I don't wear heals at all. If I have to wear a skirt, I only wear china flats or flat boots.

I can always tell if a hair is in my shoe too and won't do anything until it's removed. One of my work mates didn't believe I could feel just one hair in my shoe, but when I took my shoe off and pulled one single hair off the outside of my sock, he was pretty amazed.

I LOVE socks! They feel so nice and snug! I can only wear socks that go up to my ankles, though, as socks that go up my legs are sooo annoying and uncomfortable. Also, they are forever itching!

As far as shoes go...I prefer just to wear sneakers. They are comfortable AND practical...good for most situations. I have to wear high heals for my mothers wedding this year, all I can say is, this will be funny as I CANNOT walk in them!

I used to hate socks because of the annoying seam that touched my toes and the feeling of having the sock on my leg. That left my feet cold and my shoes stinky.

Then for a period of time, I would wear socks inside-out to avoid having the seam touch my toes.

I eventually found a kind of socks whose seams are more flat and much less noticeable, and I fold the sock down on the inside so it's only covering my ankle and not sitting further up on my leg.

I cant stand the way my leg hair feels in socks sometimes, its hard to explain, but thats bad. If anything is in my shoes they must be removed right then and their to get it out. My feet are very sensitive as well, probably where my most sensory issues lie.

I have nice thick pairs of EMS socks I use during the winter. During the summer I walk around my house bair foot and only put on lighter socks when leaving. The EMS socks I wear during the winter are very breathable, so sweating in them can be dryed quickly. They are thick yet compfortable.

I am careful about the feel of socks and shoes, it all has to be absolutely comfortable.

I'm wearing a pair of my dad's thick socks right now. I love them; they're nice and warm and don't get holes easily!

sometimes socks are good, othertimes they are not. i like being barefoot but i do get cold feet particularly at this time of year. at some points only white socks are acceptable (i think it must be the dyes in the material which sets me off at times) & at other times it depends on what the socks are made from. as for shoes trainers are the best. i have a few pairs of going out shoes but wear them only occasionally. i will only wear heels if i am going out for a meal or something that requires very little walking as i can not balance in them & they hurt!

I cant stand ankle socks. Or if socks fall down to my ankles. Id rather go barefoot than wear ankle socks. Beyond that its not really an issue for me.

Am go barefoot anywhere local [including to the park],am hate shoes and socks, they feel very bad,am only do it local because am forced inside to get trainers on before can get further.
It's not just sensory problems am have with them, but also because am have flat feet, get blisters all the time and it's like walking around with stones in shoe.
Am have feet that don't feel the cold and are very tough to anything thanks to walking barefeet, but am did get a pair of trainers at christmas for the longer journeys away which are more sensory friendly than other ones am have had.

I prefer being barefoot on most occasions. I don't like the feeling of socks, but don't have a problem with wearing them with shoes. Not that I like shoes.

I don't.

I had this problem as a child, quite severely. Now my favorite shoes are still flip flops or none :)
