There are two kinds of Aspies, which kind are you?

The first is the type of Aspie that is aware he or she is annoying to everyone else, doesn't interact correctly with others, and tries to make adjustments and learn to improve their social skills.

The other type of Aspie is the one that doesn't realize how freaking annoying and makes people want to kill them.

Maybe you should make this a poll, with choices for the two kinds of Aspie, and a third for "Not Sure." BTW, I'm the first kind.

I'm part of the first ones too. However I thought you were going to say #1 those Aspies that are quiet or #2 those Aspies that won't shut up. In which case I'm still with the #1 group.

I'm pretty much in the first group also.

The first one. I don't know how to improve my social skills though.

What about Aspies who are aware that they are annoying but don't try to make adjustments or improve their social skills? Hypothetical question. I fall firmly in the first category, even though all of my attempts to improve my social skills have failed miserably.

Orwell, that's me.

Ok, sometimes I try to "fit in", but nowhere near always.
After all, if I have to be polite while others are talking about things that bore me, then why can't they do the same for me once in a while? At least I have oddball trivia to share...everyone loves a bit of trivia, right??

Does it count for the second category if you know how people might see you, know what they might think of you, perceive that they may want to kill you, and don't care?

I am who I am, with the qualities I have, and feel no need to socialize. Orwell hit it on the head. I make no effort. They make none for me, and wouldn't if I asked. Why should I work to make them feel more at ease around me, at my own expense?

If you were the second type, would you even realize it, yet alone admit it?

I am a modified first type. I can interact pretty good but not as developed as an NT.

Are you sure there are two types? I mean, aren't we all aware of how annoying we are? Or at least are aware by adulthood?

Who would admit to being the second type?
I have to say, objectively, I used to be the second type and never realized it at all.

duncansbass makes a really good point. i, however, try not to weird people out and i get hostile when i think im being made fun of, so i make a conscious effort to watch everything i say and do around people. if they still act crappy toward me, then its the end of the world for them. yeah i overreact
