This reminds me of how I don't understand the point of a birthday. Sure, it's a marked celebration in which you spend 365 days on planet earth - But, why the celebration? Age is only a number.
I hate the fact that parents, at my age call someone to deliver balloons and cake.
It's embarresing. I don't care about presents, and frakly find them irrelevant.
Does anyone else feel this way?

God, I feel the same way. Still, my 17th will be good, because I'm getting a Wii. I guess it's some kind of tradition, celebrating someone's birth every year.

I think a birthday is a way of saying that person has worth and value. It is the only day we say that to someone. I don't think it is so much about the cake and presents, but about giving me an opportunity to say to people I care about, "Hey, I like and love you, and here is a card to say it."

I like birthdays, because I am horrible with everyday social interactions, calling people frieghtens me, and so this is way I can have an excuse to say how I feel without feeling as stupid as I usually do talking on the phone or communicating with others.

Best Regards,

Yes.
I dispise birthday parties. They seem pointless. I'm lucky that my parents feel the same about them as I do, as they know not to give me surprise parties.
In regards to presents...I think they are irrelevant. Although, it is nice to get a gift, I don't understand why it seems necessary to buy people them just because they have survived another 365 days. :?

I think the concept is to celebrate a life, to make everyone feel special one day of the year.

I do not celebrate birthdays. I have a hard enought time saying "Happy Birthday" to someone. I really don't care much about it.

My brother's birthday was last month, I forgot. He brought it up a day after and I said "Oh, good for you. How old are you again?" :P

I know what you mean. Read my latest blog entry to get a good idea of it all. You might be able to identify. You should at least be able to CHOOSE not to celebrate it, or the option of staying in your room all day and not having to socialize. -Power Girl
