Is AS/Autims a direct cause of OCD?

I have OCD and I know a lot of people with AS have OCD as well. Can AS/Autism be a direct cause of OCD?

The reason why people get diagnosed with OCD and people get diagnosed with autism are totally different.

Autistics think everything should have an order because we can't filter things ourselves so we manage reality so that we don't have to and can handle it easier with less detail. It also occurs with everything, while OCDers are just about how much they wash their hands or how all the lights have to be off. It's more specific.

If I have irrational thoughts brought about by overanalyzing a situation which has influenced my actions, is that OCD or AS?

OCD is more commonly a secondary condition to Asperger's than the other way around. However, some of the same brain centers seem to be involved in both.

There are a lot of people that have OCD without being autistic, so that can't be right (the autism causing OCD).

I just figure that with many people autism includes some symptoms of OCD, especially when stressed.

But does that mean AS can't cause OCD?

I think that OCD is a stress disorder. NTs can have it as an anxiety disorder which forms in response to a trauma..
ASD people get it because living in the world can be inherently stressful and their rituals help get the world into order and therefore make it a safe place.

Primarily it is a stress disorder any person can have, it is just basically the mind going round and round.

Apparently it's caused by a part of the brain involved with...I don't remember, danger or something...being defective and continuing to send a signal and not shutting off, so it causes anxiety to skyrocket. (The compulsion part of it is a coping mechanism to deal with the anxiety.)

There's a higher than normal overlap between people with AS and OCD, and I think it was something like 52% of people with AS have at least some OCD symptoms, and a smaller but still significant percentage that can also be diagnosed with OCD. You can have OCD without AS though and vice versa.
