Why do so many people in this group mix up these words? Where are all of the aspies that pay attention to details?

If I make a foolish mistake like this I quickly change it. Though, the there-their-they're mix up shouldn't be done...easily?
It's something that should be learned early.

Well, at least I haven't seen anyone here write "should of" instead of "should've". I hate it when people do that.

I don't think I ever use those two words together. I use "Should Have", but not "Should Of".

Well, some here might not have vocabulary as their strong point?

I got a 710 score on my verbal SAT. I still can never remember when to use further and when to use farther, no matter how many times I look it up and tell myself to REMEMBER.

Mistakes like that cause a great big alarm to go off in my head. CLANG. I'm left fumbling around looking for the override.

It's also annoying when people put apostrophes in wrong places (as in "I don't like apple's")

Yes, people make mistakes. Some of us don't seem to understand the difference between "it's" and "its", oddly enough. Still, as long as I know what someone is trying to communicate, we're in business. I don't get annoyed - they're just words on a computer screen.

I noticed an interesting thing: non-native English speakers never confuse 'their' with 'there' or 'they're'. They don't misspell words like 'definitely' either.

Ugh.
I don't understand if it's the result of lack of funding in public schools, or what.
It bothers me greatly, I mean... sheesh, people! This is what you're supposed to know since second grade!

I also hate it when people make these mistakes. I'll make an exception for them if English is not their first language, but otherwise they have no excuse. We all learned basically the same material at school after all. And this is something I know I knew for a fact in second grade...
