Why would anyone be like that?
Because mommy didn't hug him as a child.

I was raised by someone who is "opposite' of that in a way, and as well meets some of the criteria.

She'd get me hurt--but made sure a doctor wouldn't get near me. Amonia, element exposure, hard labor-odd stuff. A real go play in the traffic kind of gal.

At the same time, she would woe about all of these non existant problems that she had-to get sympathy from others.

I'm not sure why I am alive-really.

Sad is that she pursues psychology.

My mother makes a big deal out of being ill and sets things up sometimes so she can phone lots of people saying how upset she is.She had to go to hospital and told people not to bother going in to see her then the next day she started crying saying no one cared.I got annoyed about it and spoke about what had happened and she phoned everyone up saying i had been really nasty to her when she was ill.Quite a few people acted strange with me after that.
My mother drives me mad with being like that,i cant understand how anyone could want to have a bad time.

There was a guy that used to hang around with me and my friends, I strongly suspect he has Munchausen’s, and some other issue that seemed to involve trying to make me and my friend feel uncomfortable.

He started to creep me and my friend out, but we didn't realise we felt the same way until we confided in each other.

We half felt sorry for him because he had bad depression, and had a very low opinion of himself. I remember he said something unnecessarily extreme response to a question about anger. He often suggested meeting up at odd location like the entrance of the downstairs toilet at a particular railway station. He always self loathes and describes himself as a 'dweeb', which is not really slang we use in the UK very often it is more American term and dated. He basically described him as worthless, but my friend and me just ill or mad to him.

The Munchausen’s mainly started after my friend told him she worked for an ataxia charity, which is a motor condition that gives the appearance of being drunk. He would start leaning heavily into me and my friend. It wasn't at all subtle he was leaning directly into us hard. If he had trouble walking he might sway all over the place. Once we went to sit in a park and he disappeared for 10 minutes. When he came back his nose spontaneously started bleeding. I don't know if this was an allergy or self harm. When we went to a comedy club he kept of feigning narcolepsy and leaning into me. I had to push him away several times as well as trying to stop him spilling his pint constantly. It was really annoying because I was trying to watch the comedy. Anyway when it finished I got out of there so fast I accidentally kicked his pint over, but I didn't bother looking back. Apparently he was stumbling and walking into street ornaments when the left.

I suspect a lot of the members on this forum suffer from Munchausen Syndrome and have also been the victims of Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.

I don't worry about Mw99. If he has a problem with other forum members so be it.

That is like saying the guy across the street is. It is pointless because chances are, given in it a rare pathological condition, most people would not know.

More people have hypochondria, Munchausen is rare.

how would a person know if another person had munchausens?
Am always used to wonder whether this is what the aspie female at the last home am was in had,as she would swallow glass, bleach, medication, toilet cleaner, hand wash, lick toilet wipes anything...to try and get into hospital with.
Does it exist without being 'by proxy' ?

Not sure could be although she might have some other psychiatric problem that would make her harm herself. It is pretty obvious self harm.

I thought Munchausen is usually trying to induce or fabricate symptoms that are difficult to prove one way or another. That is what makes it so hard to prove. I suppose it depends on their degree of knowledge how they go about doing this.

How do we know you have not got it.It had better not be me who you think has got it because i have got very good reason to believe theres high possability that i am on the spectrum and this goes back to childhood.Though there is also the chance that neglect could of been part of it that is why i got told it could be HFA.
