I can't stand this. You know those long dead radio songs once played ad nauseum (think Celine Dion's theme from Titanic and some of those whiny, otherwise grating pop songs you never liked then and never wanted to hear again). Being in a store with my nerves already in orbit is unpleasant already, then they add one of those pop crap songs to the mix and I have the urge to run screaming. What makes companies do this? I know "pop" implies popular, yet this typically means with teens. I much prefer gentle music without lyrics, or better yet none at all, when I'm in a store.

You would love this bar chain we have over here called Weatherspoons, they do not have a music licence so there is NO music, thats the way to go I think lol. There's also this cafe in my town I go to alot, and every time I go they are playing KT Tunstalles 1st album, makes me want to take them some of my metal lol.

It annoys the heck out of me when there's rap music on - I won't go in the store even if I like the clothes because of my obsession against dumb rap music and the swearing....*panics*

Ugh. Hot topic plays a lot of that, and it makes it unbearable to shop there... I prefer dance and hip-hop.

That's not metal. Even remotely.

That's punk, which is awesome.

Depends on which Hot Topic store you're in. Sometimes the music is awesome. Sometimes ... 8O

This is why places like Lidl and Home Bargains are very pleasant than ginormastores by the name of Asda and the like. No music and the staff leave you alone because they don't care but are polite enough if asked for help. A get in and get out job.

i work the overnight shift at Petsmart PetHotels - the shifts are 9-12 hrs depending on what night it is and what time of year.
my only other co-worker (by far, among the perks of overnight work) hates the music, too, thankfully.
we leave it running through the hotel so dogs/cats don't get too distracted by us working, but at least in the kitchen we can get away from it by turning the volume down.

christmas was a real freakin' blast, though.
how many varieties of 'feliz navidad' do we really need?
