JCPenney is a decent store, yet I struggle to shop there. Those horrid beeping alarms on the fitting room entrances are usually turned up so loud that the sound is distorted and my ears feel like they're about to bleed. I really have difficulties with things that beep, it's like I don't just hear the sound...I feel it. Wal Mart is another store where I encounter problems. It seems something is always beeping, unchecked.

Who else comes unglued with beeping?

If it's repetitive, it can get really annoying and difficult to ignore.

I haven't encountered beeping change rooms here.

Reversing trucks.

Microwave ovens.

Washing machines.

Yeah, anything repetitive drives me insane quite quickly.

Casinos are the worst. I don't want to go to one again. If you want beeping hell, go to one. Get in the middle of 4 rows of slot machines, positioned like this:

XXX...XXX
......O......
XXX...XXX

Xs are the machines, you are standing at O. My friend told me to go look for someone who could service his machine because something he eneded got stuck in it, and all the beeping and lights overloaded my senses to a point where I couldn't tell the difference between people in the crowd. I wanted to rip my hair out. It drove me insane and I had to get away.

Quote:
Washing machines.

These things are horrible when overuse has caused them to emit an audible "squeak" with each rotation.

I know how you feel, for me standard alarm clocks are unbearable, one morning I got so annoyed I grabbed mine and threw it against a wall, after that my parents finally got me a different one.

My grandmother purchased for me a windup alarm clock in 7th grade, and it took me about a month to get used to it and not lay in bed for 1-2 hours trying to drown out the ticking before falling asleep... Covering it with a bunch of covers worked well, but made it harder to get to when that scary alarm bell went off. I hated that alarm. :(

It wasn't like an air conditioner where the noise was steady, each 'tick' of the clock sounded like it was different(even if in reality it really wasn't). Eventually, I smashed the thing until it was broken. Good riddance.

Most watches and clocks don't sound different on each tick to me though. It was just that damned windup one that did. I hated that thing.
