So apparently one thing that my family has noticed about me is how I can be sitting still in a chair and then abruptly change positions with out warning. I know I do this but I can't explain why, sometimes I think it helps release frustration or anxiety but I do it regardless of situation. I also tend to throw myself around in my sleep, sometimes I wake myself up doing this so I've figured out that I do it when I'm really frustrated with something (or someone) in my dream, it's like throwing a full blown temper tantrum in my sleep (and I wonder why my neck hurts the next morning 8O ). Here at school this could be dangerous because of the lofted twin sized beds, if I were to throw my self off my bed in my sleep I would fall about 5 feet onto a concrete floor :pale: (has cheap laminate tile on it but that stuff isn't exactly soft). I guess my brain takes into account the size of the bed I'm sleeping on when it decides to throw a fit because so far the worst I've done is throw my head repeatedly against my pillow :wall: (hurts my neck just thinking about it).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has these issues.

Tourrette's can cause this.

But involuntary movements at or around bedtime are normal for a lot of people.

Sleepwalking might be a cause for your symptoms too.

The movements are voluntary, I'll just feel like I should move so I do... I just do it quickly and I think I startle people when I do it and that's why my sisters find it irritating... but do I really need to warn people before I move... uh no... but apparently it isn't normal to shift position that abruptly. I don't see it as problem more like a quirk, and was curious to see if I share that with any other Aspies. I know where the dreaming comes from , that's one of my indicators when I'm stressed about something either consciously or subconsciously... some people sleep walk, I throw fits and sometimes talk too. :P

What do they do, give a shout out before they readjust their position in the chair?

i have moderate scoliosis in my lower spine. i am constantly readjusting when i'm sitting in order to avoid pain.
don't know why people feel a need to pathologize behavior just because the person does something and that person has AS.
move as you please!
