I drive a 1996 Ford Taurus GL, it has 54,658 miles on the odometer. Handles well, and the engine has a decent ammount of pep when you floor it, and handles well. Truth be told, it is in decent condition for it's age.

In a few years the car is going to go under restoration, the wife of the previous owner was in a famous picture that's on items ranging from T-shirts allthe way to napkins. So it's got some historical value, and it was the last car she ever drove.

I drive a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. It is about as perfect of a car for me as I could ask for. :D It has a 4 liter, straight 6 engine (I don't mind the fuel comsumption too much), and the only thing I could have asked for on it was 4-wheel drive :( . It's in great shape for it's age. :D I might post a pic someday.

I bought a 1997 red Hyundai Excel gx model with fancy-but-ultimately-pointless spoiler 2 days before Christmas last year. 93 000 k's on the clock at the moment.

I drive a white 2002 Chevy Prizm with about 24,000 miles when I got it two months ago. I almost got vanity tags that said "NO GEO" for laughs. It's good on gas, which makes me smile. It has a lot more get up and go than my old Honda, which makes merging into freeway traffic less sucky.

A white 04 Ford Ranger Edge. It's a 4 liter V-6, and extended-cab. It's at about 18k miles.

Things I want to add to it:

1) Sound system
2) Side-steps
3) pinstripe down the side
4) bed rails
5) grill guard (maybe)

1995 Dodge Grand Caravan with 205,000 Miles on it (135,000 put on by me in the last 5 years). It still runs good considering...

I found a junk yard with the small interior pieces I'm missing, so I'm going to give them a call, and they should sell them to me for cheap, if they will. They're small pieces (a door bezel, a center console door and springs for the door) After that, I'll just fix the tears in the door, clean the seatbelts and it'll be perfect inside.

Then I'll drive it for the winter, and then fix the body in the spring.

Louis - how many transmissions had to die to get that Caravan to where it is today? Always been a little leery of Chryslers because of that.

Me? I have an uber-luxe Chevy Cobalt LT sedan. XM, OnStar, heated leather...although if I had more experience with a stick (no...DON'T say it!) I may have considered a Cobalt SS. But I do like my 4 doors.

a car thread. I can't believe i haven't replied to this yet.

Well, I drive a 1989 Volvo 740 turbo. I've modified the engine, turbo system, engine control computer and sound system.

I always thought those four speed chyrsler transmissions were good at self destructing at about 60k miles.

Or do you have a three speed?

Or are you just lucky?

Speaking of four speed chrysler transmissions, you can tell one just from listening to it. When it changes gears, it makes an audible "purring" sound.

Scott,

I think I really am lucky as mine is a 4 speed. My luck almost ran out in California but for some I think it was a computer error. Talking with the dealers, there was one year when Chrysler got it right, I think I hit the right year (then they screwed it up again).

I also notice the sound when the transmission shifts gears (and notice it in other chrysler vehicles too). It is like an urrrrrrrrrr sound. I can describe it voice wise better than in words.

I have noticed however that lately the transmission has been slipping. I am hoping to get another year and a half out of the van before I have to replace it.
