Yes, for all the wrong reasons.

Oh yes!

Probably the favourite of my family and so-called friends is 'you're hard work'.

I think the appropriate response from any aspie would be the internet cliche, "NO U"

I'm strong-willed, stubborn, and innately defiant. I'm also chalk full of strange neuroses and things that set me off, including not wanting to do things that "normal" people enjoy. And I will not hesitate to start bitching very loudly if I have a problem with something; subtlety is not my strongest attribute, and there are many things that I will simply not brook.

I'm difficult by definition; call me difficult and call water wet; love me, hate me, or do both, but you will take me as I am.

Good fortune,

- Icarus is a walk in the park...

All the time...

And faithfilly...I get that too...Especially my grandmother for the last 3 years all she talks is about how lucky I am to have my husband...how wonderful he is...blah, blah, blah...I love her dearly but I finally told her once, "hey, he's lucky to have me...if he's so good, then I can assure you I am awesome, otherwise, he wouldn't have me around and he'd have someone else around..."

I hear that most of the time too, but only from people that I'm deliberately a pain in the butt to. I mean, trust me, I CAN be sweet when treated right, but I can be downright difficult if my buttons are pressed.

One caseworker called me an 'insensitive jerk' for a comment I made about some MR teens that were bugging me; and another said to me point-blank that I was nothing but a 'mean-spirited, sophomoric, ugly person'! Needless to say, the latter got his ass fired for that remark, hehe.

Definitely. Most of the time it doesn't bother me. I just go along. It hurts the most when my husband says things sometimes like "Why can't you be like everyone else?" or my very favourite (just heard this yesterday and sent me into screaming meltdown mode) "Why do you take everything so literally? Why don't you trust me?"

I mean, come on.

I'm probably one of the easiest people to get along with on the surface, I'm extremely accommodating and aware. I don't communicate, but nobody notices.

Actually, these days I am beginning to communicate, but only in very small doses and with very few people.

(I got an avatar! (I hope it works.) I always wanted one but I know less about computers than your average three-year-old and I didn't know there was a readymade selection to choose from. I wish they weren't all cartoons, I would have liked a photograph of a tree or something, but she looks a bit like me except that she has straight hair.)

When I was younger, yes, but not now. The traits that made me difficult growing up, such as perfectionism, actually have stood me in good stead as an adult.

I get "stop being awkward" a lot. Mainly because someone asks me a question that isn't specific enough, or says something that doesn't seem logical, and I point out the billion ways the sentence could be understood.

I am a persistent, impossible pain in the butt that doesn't 'get it'. Does that answer your question?
