As a rule, I try to use an internal stupid comment filter running in my brain. I always think hard about what I'm going to say. I try to filter it for anything that might be offensive, stupid or embarrassing. It rarely ever works because I always end up sticking my foot in my mouth anyway.

Sometimes, without ever meaning to.

I do it all the time. Then when there is somebody that I actually want to offend because I don't want to deal with them anymore, I can't seem to do it. :x

Yes I do.

Yes, I do. I think I'm about to offend you, Princess, by asserting that you were rude to your sisters. If you think hard enough, you can find a polite way to talk about things that are bothering you.

Quite often, yes... They think I'm being rude when I don't respond to their often-invisible body language or when I don't gleefully laugh at all the jokes... and actually, alot of the time, I don't know WHY they're angry at me and I assume I must have offended them somehow... probably missed some other subtle social cues..

As for the sisters comment which I just read after posting to the title of the thread alone... sorry:

You can later express to them that you aren't feeling that way anymore? You probably don't really mean that and won't feel that angry for ever... just let them know that you won't feel that way forever (hopefully?)

I used to offend very often. I don't do so as much now. It takes a lot of learning and reading. You may want to read novels which would help gain psychological insight to prevent offending unintentionally. I recommend Don Quixote by Don Miguel de Cervantes and Les Miserables by Victor Hugo for starters.

Yes I do and I don't realise it unless I am told. But just telling me won't get my attention - I need to be told why. Otherwise I'll ignore it because if I can't learn anything from the situation I'll move on.

I also do it intentionally - but only to those who offend me and won't acknowledge that they've done it. Especially if they laugh about it (that really gets my goat!).

I would think it's a common thing.

Something that might upset people less is to say that they are really annoying, rather than that you never want to see them again.

Quite often, unfortunately. Political Correctness doesn't help matters, either.
