I currently pile partially folded blankets over my legs (atop my usual bedspread) at night to sleep comfortably. I need the pressure, and unless the cat curls up on the blankets it still isn't enough.

One of the reasons I like the cold. :P You can pile many blankets on yourself and not worry you'll be baked in the process.

When my daughter needed dental X-rays, she calmed down fast when they put that heavy leaded blanket on top of her.

We have vest with weights and chair huggers, and lap huggers, the kids really like them.

Funny you mention that. I've always enjoyed that part of the dental office experience. What I hate is when they take it away :(

I don't have a weighted blanket per se, but someone I used to know gave me a very heavy blanket which I love and have trouble sleeping without. I still layer more blankets on top of it for more weight. It also helps when my cat lays on my feet. Otherwise I kick and flail my feet all night long and wake myself. I also wear a fleece lined hoodie to bed because of how it feels around my head.

I don't like more than one blanket or a heavy blanket, although I always have my head and about every other body part under the blankets. I do think, from experiences when I was sleeping outside my home that I can only sleep comfortably under my blanket. I have it since I was... when do kids get real huge beds?
When I try to sleep under heavy blankets, I feel chocked and very uncomfortable. I'm the total opposite I suppose.

Last time I went to the dentist's, I just told them about the asperger's and asked for them to leave the blanket on and they did. It was the calmest I've ever been while at the dentist's.

use a large,heavy duty rug.
this is what am have in the makeshift sensory room,it's so big and heavy it cannot be lifted by one person, but the feeling from it once under it is great.
Am don't think weighted blankets would offer enough pressure.

Have had a weighted blanket for a couple of months, now, and I love it! The one downside is that it's not heavy enough for my tastes, even though its more heavy than what I would've gotten had I followed the OT's weight guidelines. I use it with a thick doubled up wool blanket and a comforter and I still want more weight...

I tried layering about five heavy comforters on top of me once; I was unbearably hot and couldn't stay under very long but the crushing weight was absolutely delicious!
