The doctor told me that it would be at least late September before we would get my 8 year old into the neurologist, but I got a call on Monday. They said "We had a cancellation, can you come in tomorrow?" I thought, "no car... no child care... next appointment late June... SURE I can make it."
Anyway, after spending a little over 3 hours with a neurologist we got a diagnosis. She agreed with the General Practitioner's diagnosis of ADD(non-hyperactive), and added a Asperger's Syndrome to it as well.
Today we went to the Urologist seems to have a daytime wetting problem, the Urologist says he can't find anything physical, so it might be one of the other conditions, he gets involved in one thing and just forgets that he has to go. He has been put on a .. "potty" schedule for every 2.5 to 3 hours until June. (only during the day, no nighttime issues.)
Now I get to figure out how to approach his new IEP. The school nurse seems helpful and wants to work with me, so that is great.
He is a VERY picky eater, and is underweight. She put him on those Carnation Instant Breakfasts and a multivitamin. We are also starting ritalin for him to see how it works for him in the after school hours. (he is already on ... Methadate? something similar during the days, and it makes a vast difference.)
She gave us the diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome and said that she doesn't think it is a more "classic" type of autism. So we now have more to work with on the IEP. She also mentioned trying for SSI for him as long as we meet the finical criteria, has anyone been able to get that here?
I have a couple questions, but will make a new thread for them.
