I just started one.

I wonder, how do people know that you have a blog and go read there?

And what are blogs for? You talk and others nod?

Personally I do not have a blog. But I read some blogs, not on WP however.

But what do I expect in a blog?
- a subject, random subjects are not inviting to read regularly
- a certain insight in that subject
- some personal experiences on the subject
- links to good sources

I also read blogs that are link collections, with good explanation about the links

Thank you, Asterisp! That's a wonderful guide for me to go by.

I used to be an obsessive hypergraphic journal keeper and that eventually evolved into my becoming an avid blogger...mostly on personal experiences..journal-style....I have several different blogs that I take turns with and i have been doing this ever since I have had unlimited access to a computer.

I sorta miss my paper journals..and keep those too..but with not as much fervor .....

I have a WP journal and a Myspace journal and a Tribe.net one annnnd....I like blogging...I like to post dreams and stuff...I am in a trial for an herbal supplement that is supposed to help women on the spectrum, and i have been blogging my progress....because I am supposed to keep a journal...

Nobody reads my WP blog..even though it is set to public, it does not show up on the list of blogs...and I am not sure why...

Maybe one should mention one's blog on relevant threads and interest people on the subjects posted in one's blog...

I've been toying with the idea of blogging on WP. I've blogged elsewhere before, but found it difficult to sustain, and to maintain the quality. There's also the problem (more frequent than I'd like, but even in general it's not desirable) of making "down" emo posts.

I'd like to think blogging would be an enriching experience, and I have an idea for a non-personal blog I'd like to write, but... I guess I'll see. I could do with attending Blogging 101.

I've got lots of blogs...

I started off with only one but soon decided that my audience was so diverse that they didn't want to hear about the same things - hence I split by topic...

My Family
http://gbollard.blogspot.com
I use this instead of mass-emailing my family about what's going on in our lives. It's sort of like a diary and one day I hope my kids will be old enough to look over it and realise how much fun they had.

Aspergers (Life with Aspergers)
http://life-with-aspergers.blogspot.com/
Of all my blogs, this is the one that performs best (and as a result, the one that I put the most effort into). I started the blog once I'd begun to accept my own condition (and my son's). It was originally intended to help me come to grips with the criteria and how it presented but it's expanded to such a degree that I use it as a kind of FAQ and often redirect WP questions to it.

This particular blog has been great for me because other people comment and it gives me ideas for new topics and new areas of self-exploration. I don't always get nods and often the disagreements are more interesting that agreement. I also use this blog when I've wanted to comment too extensively on someone else's blog - although I don't quote other people's articles much (preferring to redirect) and I always leave a shorter comment on their articles when I do this. It's a courtesy.

Tech Stuff
http://dominogavin.blogspot.com/
This was actually my first blog. I started it as an experiment to learn about blogging and I've used it to explain how to do a whole bunch of technical stuff. I don't add to it as much as I should but if you want to know how to make bootable CDs or convert YouTube to DVD. (Or if you've got questions about Notes/Domino) This is the place.

Freebies
http://gbfreebies.blogspot.com/
This is my most recent blog. I initially created it so that I could have a play with Wordpress but soon discovered that despite all the wordpress hype, Blogger was now a better platform. The aim of this blog was to draw attention to FREE resources on the internet for Applications, Games, Audio Books and EBooks. By FREE, I mean completely free and good quality without strings attached. In order to do this, I needed to install the software and test it for malware and general performance. It takes time... too much time - and I've not been keeping up with it lately.

I've also got a few web sites - the best of which is here: http://sites.google.com/site/gavinbollard/. Unlike a Blog, a website can be fairly static and nobody cares if it doesn't get updated. I mainly started this site so that I could play with Google Sites but I do use it to link some of my articles together in a more coherent fashion. I've also got some extensive movie lists (since I'm a big film fan) on here.

Anyway ... apologies for the novel... I get carried away. There's so much you can do with blogs - publish them to facebook and to wrong planet... (or keep them entirely private if you like).

Blah, blah, blahg topic

I started a blog when they first came out. No one read them--they were just anonymous places where you could post things you did not want others to read. Things changed when blogs became outlets for known people to leave a rant, and for people to post comments, like minforums.

My journal is private and is a file in my computer accessible only to me. It is of interest only to me.

People use blogs for various reasons. Often the more successful ones are focused around a particular subject matter such as Asperger's, knitting, or computers. Some blogs focus entirely on the subject matter, and others read a bit more like an online journal with the subject matter scattered about.

The blog my wife and I keep is the online journal type of blog which is centered around one of our shared interests. I will spare you the link.

I voted for No, I don't like the idea / don't have the time / am shy disregarding the "I don't like the idea" thing...I really wanted to have one but I don't have much time plus i'm too shy :P

I picked "No, I don't like the idea / don't have the time / am shy"

I have no interest in having a blog.

I don't see the point cause I know nobody will read them. Anyways I tend to obsess over that sort of s**t. I don't even necessarily like posting in forums b/c i hate the cycle of reloading pages for accumulative hours waiting for responses to threads I post in. Been doing it here and a local music forum while randomly talking on aim all morning.
