No offence to that new guy who just posted asking what it meant. Its been annoying me for a while now. We're all human beings, just different. Getting upset with people cause they're "normal" won't get you anywhere.

I just said this in my last post, there is no such thing as a "normal" person. Therefore NT's are not normal either, they vary by the individual just like we do.

Exactly, thanks. I've lived around people without AS and lived like I haven't got it most of my life. It pisses me off when people on this site talk about"nt's" like there some sort of monsters!

I didn't know what it meant either but never asked. Now that I do, I use it in terms of those who don't have autism or aspergers. I really don't believe in normal.

Of course there is a ‘normal’ if you like it’s the ‘average’ – normal is a measurement of central tendency (it is a range not a point) – simplistically it is the area where most of the measurement are, from there variations trend in both directions. Height is the easiest to imagine, if you measure 1000 people, typically most will be towards the centre, that is ‘normal’, less and less will occur towards the extremities (there are fewer really tall or really short people).

Hence NT is a term describing the people that are close to the middle of the measurement (of what is another question), AS people will be to one side of this normal range (and will also cover a range). Therefore, in my opinion there is nothing wrong with the term NT as a descriptive label, but, some people misuse it just like other labels (e.g., race and religon).

I never really saw what the point was. I guess it's just a label to affix. Mostly, it's not a good label, though, normally just one for angry people to attribute their problems to.

I happen to like them, myself. Some of them are even pretty cute.

I used to think that way, until I attended my first NT hunt with some experienced ASers. There's nothing like catching and mounting your first yuppie.

It should just be a useful term to describe people who aren't autistic. Here, it seems to be short for 'those evil people'. Weird stuff.

Hi, I'm SQ  I'm here because I've been doing some thinking about myself and believe there is a possibility I have AS. Would someone point me in the direction of a forum where someone might be willing to discuss this with me?

BTW - what is NT? I can't find the post by the new guy that was referred to here; so I can't find the answer. It appears that it's an negative (?) term for non-AS/Autism people? I hope not; if my thoughts are wrong, you'll all hate me. :(

Actually, you're dead on with your answer. That's exactly what it means. And yeah, it's a pretty negative term, too, unfortunately.
