I hate to. It makes me feel all weird and creepy. I have a rather uncommon name, and the other day i saw a TV show, and the woman on it had my name, spelled the same too, (it was one of those makeover shows) and it made me feel sick to my stomach. and when ever someone said it it mae me want to cry.

anyone else like this??

I don't mind when someone else has the same name, but I do always feel awkward to introduce myself.

I share the feeling, I might change mine
i already feel awkward in social situations, the last thing i need is a strange name

I do. I don't know why, I just hate to. I even hate addressing people with the same first name as me.

I don't like people saying my name to me (except in an extremely limited set of circumstances). It feels like being splashed with cold water, or violently struck, even though I know people don't mean anything by it. I don't mind saying it myself.

I changed my name when I was 18. I like it now.

I hate the [shortened] name that my family has called me all my life. I hate hearing it and I hate saying it. I have one friend who is allowed to use a shortened name, and it is a different one (oddly enough, I hate this friend using my full name).

Other than the one friend mentioned above, I insist on using exclusively my full name - I feel awkward hearing anything else and correct anyone who introduces me with anything else. I think it lets me distance myself by not having a shortened name or a nickname. I don't want people to use anything like that, ever.

I hate my name and I hate to say it. I think it sounds like someone is sneezing if you say it fast enough.

I don't mind saying or hearing Mike. And I don't mind hearing my full name spoken by others. But I loathe the way it sounds to my ears when I say it outloud. I've thought about having my last name changed because of it.

The same and never really thought about it before..

But thinking back before I was married no one could say or spell my second name, see never said it, unless had too and then use to say it very quickly and spell it out.. 8O

Another thing (not worth making its own thread about):

I hate to use any terms of endearment to anyone. They all sound artificial and some of them (even normal, everyday ones) just make me shudder to hear or use. Related?

My name is so common, there's even a TV channel in the UK that shares it (albeit the shortened variant of my name), so I'm not too bothered when my forename is used on TV. Anyone wanna guess what my name is?

I really don't like addressing other people by their names, though.

Yes, and I hate it when others say it. The sole exception to that thus far is when they called my name and degree at my college graduation. That was awesome. But otherwise, I find it exceptionally unnerving.

I always feel a silly awkwardness whenever I say my name out loud - it's really weird. :?

I hate it when other people say my last name because they always pronounce it wrong.
