The Autism Scale for Expressive Adults (TASEA)
For a little background, I'm currently attempting to design an autism questionnaire focused on helping to diagnose ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) in adults. So far, I've gotten some great help as far as participation from people here at WP (thank you ), but I am needing some more respondents.
So, if you're interested and haven't already filled out the questionnaire, just PM me or email me ([email protected]) and I'll reply with a copy of the questionnaire.
Important Note:
This is not part of an official study currently, though that is my intention in the future. So for your own safety, you should know that this is being overseen by no one else but myself (i.e., no IRB or ethics committee or university supervisor, etc.). However, this is an anonymous collection of data and the data will not be used except to help me work out the kinks of the questionnaire design to get it ready for its first testable version. The data I collect currently will never be published. (Though that's not to decry your importance; as participants, you're the MOST important, the first generation.)
So by participating, you are agreeing that you are aware of the context surrounding this pilot research and accept that.
More about the survey:
Also, I'll send a link to the AQ (Baron-Cohen's "Autism Quotient") since I'm using that as an easy comparison right now, and if you could include your score (you can either just let me know your score if you remember it from the last time you took it or retake it, whichever you like) I'd appreciate it.
Right now, I'm not letting people know their scores since this questionnaire is in a very VERY rough draft version and I don't want any score to influence a person's self-concept (e.g., I don't want someone to get a low score and start worrying that they're not autistic when this tool has had no validation or reliability testing as yet). I will, however, be posting the broader results and a brief write-up, though that may take awhile since I'm still in desperate need of controls.
On that same note, I'm still in desperate need of autistics (experimentals) as well, needing at least 5 more females and 20 more males to fill out the survey. Ideally, I would like at least 30 respondents of each sex for both autistics and controls (although the more the merrier-- and the sounder the results). I am intending on contrasting/comparing scores and ranges between autistics and controls, between sexes within each group, and between various age ranges within each group (although for the age ranges I will have to wait to see if I get enough variety in ages to make it at all reliable; that may have to wait till a later date).
In the questionnaire, I do ask for your age and sex, so if you feel uncomfortable in giving those, please let me know and just leave those blank. However, like I mentioned, I'm hoping to contrast and compare scores between the sexes and various age ranges, so including that information will be really helpful.
So if you're interested, like I said, just PM me or email me.
A little review of my background for those who don’t know me:
I’ll repost here what I wrote in the other TASEA thread. (For information I've updated or edited I've put in brackets.)
My reason for attempting to design an adult-focused autism questionnaire is because, currently, in working at WashU I am having to do research on the ADOS-G. To my mind, the diagnostic method is too exclusive to those who are less severe. It also has never been fully tested on Asperger populations and especially adults. So, with my discontent in hand, I decided to try and build a self-report questionnaire which could be used as one additional tool when diagnosing an adult ASC.
This is in the very beginning stages and I won't be able to truly test reliability and validity until I am in graduate school. However, I have a year and a half to get this as good as possible.
If you have any questions that aren’t answered by the original thread ( http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp1207520.html#1207520 ) or if you just don’t feel like re-reading through it to find out

Thanks.

I've done this already, I think. Haven't I?
