A child, DXed as Asperger, has been cruelly interrogated by a policeman, who has tried to prove that he (or his sister) was molested by his father.
There are two reasons to condemn this police behavior. 1) the techniques used by the police to interrogate a child. Somewhere in the web you cand find the episode videotaped. Heart breaking, cruel and senseless (if I recover the link I will put it here). 2) The legacy of the psychoanalytic theory that sexual violence against one's own children is frequent in families, which has inflated the cases of judicial persecution of innocente parents (innocent at least on the account of rape).

Unfortunately, sexual violence against one's own children really is frequent in families (or at least far too frequent). There are false accusations, but there are far more guilty people who never get punished.

That's no excuse for bullying potential victims, though.

Besides, I think psychoanalytic theory said it was all in the child's head. Don't blame them for people thinking it actually happens.

That police officer clearly knows nothing about Aspergers. After telling us how experienced he is at reading people if they are telling the truth or hiding something and then applying it to a kid with aspergers is just crazy and the results spoke for themself. This kid was going through emotional torture because this officer dont know what hes doing and shouldnt be interrogating people with Aspergers or Kids.

I think this just shows how important it is for people who will have to have contact like this with someone with Aspergers needs to be given proper training. That boy should never have been interviewed on his own like that and should have an expert on autism who could protect him and set this police officer straight.

I hate the thought that all people with autism could find themselves in similar situations like this where the police accuse you of hiding things because of the way you behave. I know when I try adjust the way I behave I just make things worse and always afraid of looking guilty but cant act naturally.

Freud himself changed his mind about the fantasy or reality of this kind of child abuse. And I agree that many incestuous episodes of fathers happen that are not judicially documented. Much more of this happens between husband and wife and here there is no judicial control at all. Rapes of girls by young bullies are also frequent and go unnpunished. But police should thread very lightly in the matter of father-child abuse. This violence happens most in degraded slums environments, where normally the police is absent.

Oh don't be fooled please. These types of incestuous abuse do occur very, very often...and not only in slums. Very wealthy, hard-working, sometimes rich, sometimes even famous people are molesting their children. Doctors, teacher, coaches, ministers and your next door neighbor are just some of those perpetrators out there. Here in the U.S., 1 out of every 3 females are incested and 1 out of every 5-6 males are incested. And those are only the ones that we know about, that have been reported and several people are in therapy and in support groups seeking help. There are many, many more out there that we don't even know about that my be living in denial and/or never reported it because of fear.

As for the police officer 'pushing' the issue and trying to prove something is a different story altogether. It does not even sound like a job of a police officer. But, we do live in different countries. It sounds weird to me.

According to RAINN 1 out of every 6 American women have been the victims of an attempted or completed rape (sexual assault) in their lifetime. But sexual assault doen't mean incest. Anyway the great majority of rapes are not denounced or reported to the police by the victims.
As everyone knows Catholic, non married, priests are the major offenders in the matter of child abuse. But what happens in prisons, under the benevolent eyes of police officers? We are not here to do a social history of violence, but to shed some light about the way "justice" is administered.
