Holy Cow!
I just got the news, this stinks. Is this the normal time for an Aspergers Diagnosis?
I guess it's just two psychologists.
Can anyone explain what I can expect?
Thanks.

I've had this with both my ED and AS diagnosis. Usually there is a break in the middle, I think it depends how much supporting info there is to start with. When there are two people usually one is a physician and the other is a psychologist.

I guess it varies. For my ED I did a day long photometric test so I didn't have to repeat that entirely for the AS, I only repeated a small section of it. Also it was not typical as it was a full assessment of various disorders: AS/ADHD/Executive Dysfunction/Anxiety. Chances are they will be looking for co-morbids too.

I don't really know much about Executive Disfunction, but I just looked it up. Could you explain some of your symptoms?

It is quite a general term really. In fact you can theorise that AS and other neurological conditions, etc are executive dysfunctions if they concern the frontal lobe. Generally speaking they only give a clinical diagnosis of executive dysfunction when there is a problem.

I've actually got wider cognitive problems that haven't been full accounted for. I'm on the waiting list for a national centre for nuerodevelopmental disorders, its waiting list is over 9 months. Chances are you don't have to worry about this s**t.

It varies and shouldn't really take that long.

We got that for our second son, and he ended up with a HFA diagnosis.
His older brother got Aspergers after a questionnaire and about 1 hour.

One of my sons just got finished an assessment and the other son has just started. They told us to expect 6-8 hours in the office, and it took 6. We also filled out a tonne of paperwork on his behalf (at least 2 hours worth!?!).

In addition to the 6 hours we spent in the office, she said to expect to be charged for an additional 1-2 hours, which would be her interviewing his teacher and compiling her report.

And that seems to be pretty standard for getting an official diagnosis around here.

S'what I remember it being for me. That was back in '01, but I can remember it being a real pain in the ass. Got very impatient.
