I'm not sure if CNN will offer the best coverage for autism, but they're showing a couple specials this weekend including showing the Academy Award nominated documentary Autism Is A World, and will be spending all Wednesday covering autism.

Edit: Apparently I can't post a link until tomorrow  but you can find it by googling: autism cnn

I'll have to tell my mom. She likes watching anything and everything that has to do with autism. :D

THANK YOU for that bit of information. I hope we get that here in New Zealand. We have CNN on sattelite TV.
If we get it, I will be watching and making my Dad watch too!

If Australia gets it (I'll have to check) then New Zealand should as well (I think we get the same feed).

Wednesday in the US means Thursday this side of the international date line.

I have already checked out Sky's listing for CNN for Thursday online but didn't see anything. Might just have to put it on CNN on Thursday morning and see what I get lol

Saw announcement last weekend saying this Sunday they'd be showing this documentary, am keeping my eyes peeled for it.
Upon searching for these terms, turned up interesting essay (that addresses both positives & negatives of the film):
http://www.raggededgemagazine.com/revie ... n0605.html
Am bit annoyed that CNN hasn't found something more recent to air-this is from 2 or 3 years ago-hasn't anyone made anything (of this type) since then ? Or is CNN inclined to only show a piece that they had a part in (behind the scenes, production-wise) ? Am still waiting for the network to have adults with ASD's, including people with Asperger's !
All I ever see on any talk show is parents of severely (as they call it) affected toddlers. Aaargh. Know this film is meant to be antidote to that but it's not enough, in my opinion-I want guests invited to appear & speak on the programs that otherwise exclusively feature anyone except dx'd adults. Please pardon my unseemly ranting...

I agree. All we ever seem to see is the worst case scenarios: children with severe, global, health, behavior and sensory problems and adults in sheltered workshop enviornments. I haven't seen anyone who approaches even the modest degree of success I have been able to attain-and I am not an AS superstar.

I agree with you. I'd like to see higher functioning people on CNN, as well. The message needs to get out, that there are more than just one level of autism, and that it affects each of us, differently.

I saw something yesterday (Friday) morning around 7-8ish. It was middling until Sanjay Gupta proclaimed AutismSpeaks a "great resource" for Autism information.

After that sentence I immediately ignored everything else he said for the last 45 seconds of the program. Then I noticed there was a marathon of "The Universe" on The History Channel. Only forgot about that until just now.
