I love fiction and always have. I actually think this is the one thing that is keeping me from an AS diagnosis. (I'm diagnosed PDD-NOS) Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else did too? I usually get really into the stories in video games and cartoons especially. I don't know if it's my special interest in drawing that does it for me or my constant escapism. Either way here are some of my favorite fiction stories.

1. Harry Potter!! !
2. Final Fantasty 7
3. Goosebumps books (as a kid)
4. Nightmare on Elm St. (also as a kid)
5. Friday the 13th (kid)
5. Halloween ( I loved horror movies when I was a kid)
6. Nightmare before Christmas

I analyze fiction just as much or even more than I do non-fiction. When I was kid I was obsessed with magical powers and I would analyze all the different types of magic in movies and cartoons. It wasn't until I actually looked into "real" magic that I lost interest. It wasn't the same and I didn't like it at all. It was all about religion and worship...I just wanted to equip a materia and use Firaga. ha....

I feel the same. I've always loved fiction.

I love fiction too. :)

Hard/medium scifi usually, with the odd bit of fluff/comedy here and there.

Lots of aspies love fiction. It's not part of the diagnostic criteria.

There's a theory out there that we only like non-fiction but that's rubbish.

I love fiction and non-fiction. Particularly dystopian fiction ;)

Yeah breaking the aspie stereotype. I love fiction and always had. Right now I am reading A League of Their Own but ironically I can't concentrate on that movie novel because I am too focused on here.

The book is totally different from the movie. They changed the looks of the characters and the scenes are different and they have scenes in there that were not in the movie.

I spent thirty nine bucks for this book because it's rare. It was worth it and something I can keep and read over and over or keep as my ALOTO collection.

As do I. In fact, I'm writing a dystopian novel right now. Lets see if it ever hits B&N.

And Sportacus is not dystopian. Just sayin'.

I think us Aspies like fiction because it's not the wrong world. Things always seem to fit better when scripted, and if we miss a point, we can always go back and read again. It fits our lower social skill set, but still allows us to imagine. Also, 'realistic' fiction is actually quite good practice for real world scenarios. Tis how I learned the fine art of sarcasm, that and the great Mr. Carlin.

I love fiction and I always have. I have over a hundred books, all fiction. I have around 15-20 non- fiction. Mainly because the internet is a better source of non fiction information.

Hell, I have over 50 Star Wars novels...

I read lots of fiction. For nonfiction, I don't read much-- that's what the internet is for.

But I don't think I relate to what most aspies like in the fiction category. I have no imagination, so fantasy and scifi and such are difficult for me to read.

I read fiction also like it were non-fiction. I find it amazing when so many people put emphasis on how the character "changed" and their emotions. I do not think about this at all. I read them for information. You can learn a lot from a fiction book that you wouldn't from a nonfiction book (nonfiction books go into detail about one topic, while with a fictional story you can learn a bunch of odd and end things and learn more about... life experience).

That said, I also put no emphasis on names and can not remember character names for the life of me. I just like their stories, and what they go through. It's like having friends, only you can be inside their head.

Very well put! As a child, I always did consider fictional characters my friends. I love fiction! I do analyze it, and treat fictional characters/situations and everything very carefully. I really get into it.

I love dystopian fiction too - probably because of my dystopia obsession :) I love fiction in general; I must have about a thousand books in my house, and most of them are fiction. I've never liked nonfiction as well.

I love fiction too, and prefer it over "nonfiction."

I, too, love fiction, specifically the sub-genre of Sci-Fi called Steampunk. :) I am currently reading 'The Difference Engine'; it's supposed to be a core book of Steampunk, or something of that sort.

Despite my love of Steampunk, I also like other genres of fiction as well. :D
