YES. Our county sucks. Services here are severely lacking. Took me FIVE MONTHS to get my son speech therapy and I have to pay entirely out of pocket - not a cheap date. There is NO occupational therapy available. No one in their right mind chooses to live here willingly.

I would love to belong to a support group for Adult Aspies, but there is only one for children in my town. I did see where there was supposedly something for Adults with AS to meet for lunch once a month, so I'm going to check that out.

Generally the services in Australia are OK - although it varies from state to state. The biggest problem is support for adults on the Spectrum who can't work - they fall through the cracks in the system in a big way.

Myself included.

Not job placement... you misunderstood. The job placement are more for people with mental disability and the it like putting bottlecap on a bottle.

Nope.

It was easy enough to get on a disability pension for me here in Oz; ASDs qualify one for such after you meet a government psycho and they assess your functioning. They also help find you a job that's suited to your disability if you're able to work.

Naturally, my mother had to do most of it (all of the talking; I filled out the forms).
