This thread may have been before. I just thought since I am a huge movie fan I would (as an NT who knows Asperger's and might have it) list which movies I think the hero has Asperger's:
Brendan Frye in Brick (2005)

Jefferson Smith in Mr. Smith goes to Washington (1939)

Walter Bridge in Mr. and Mrs. Bridge (1990)

Dawn Weiner in Welcome to the dollhouse (1995)

Luke in Cool Hand Luke (1967)

what does everyone else think? Do those main charcters in those movies seem Asperger's to you?

I can't believe you forgot Napoleon Dynamite!

And Mr. Smith doesn't seem AS to me, just inexperienced.

I don't know any movies, but read The Stranger by Albert Camus. The main character seems to be autistic.

I was watching a US sitcom this evening called Big Bang Theory... the character called Sheldon seemed pretty autistic to me.

It's not a movie, but Anya in the tv show Buffy the Vampire Slayer seems so AS to me...She's very blunt, takes things literally, and doesn't react emotionally the way the other characters do. When Buffy's mom dies, she is upset because she doesn't know how to behave.

Hey! Don't be jujmintol!

Back on subject: What about Samara Morgan? I'm sure some of us can all relate to the 'ring' symbology, her chronic insomnia, her vivid mental imagery, the patterns, and the spinning chair (don't you love those?). Not to mention that her only means of communication (i.e killing) are through electronic media (she never talks in person except to say 'mommy').

I disagree with Mr. Bridge and The Stranger by Camus. I think The Stranger was supposed to be about alienation (of course I read it in French so I'm sure I missed something, but even so).

Check out Ninotchka with Greta Garbo. Some of the jokes are pretty funny.

I have a long history with Samara. She has always been, and still remains to this day, the most disturbing character to have jumped off screen and invaded my mind. I can relate to her in a sense, but not in a way I can easily describe or would wish to discuss publicly in much detail.

God, just thinking about her is making me edgy. 8O When I get scared sometimes I hear those awful violin strings. 8O

Sh*t, I think I'm really freaking out. 8O No, I'm not joking.
