Another curiosity-about-something topic...

Does anyone else have trouble understanding or comprehending things that aren't in their field of interest? For me, unless it is concerning language and words or writing, it's like trying to think through static and it's immensely frustrating. It doesn't feel like anything penetrates into my head. I feel so ignorant all the time.

I am wondering if it's AS or depression, hence asking. Thoughts?

I don't know which it is, but while I'm never bored with watching paint dry, having to listen to something I'm not interested in (say, a superior telling funny stories about her pets for twenty minutes) is an excruciating torture for me. I also recently bought an instructional CD about a computer program I wasn't terribly interested in, and every single time I clicked on it, I found myself starting to yawn within minutes! They should market it as a soporific.

Not anymore than the average person, I think, but that's because my fields of interest are quite broad, even if I don't pursue all of them all the time. For me it's never been too difficult to find things interesting, if I have a basic understanding of them.

My main problem is maths. I can't wrap my head around it, so I don't really like it as a subject. If I understood it then doubtless I wouldn't feel this way.
