Thanks, me to...

Its wonderful to see around the global people uniting, as feel its so important that everyone on the autism spectrum comes together and learns from one another, as I feel internationally a real difference can be made. Often the greatest knowledge of Autism/Aspergers comes from those on the spectrum... lets hope others listen

With out this happening small countries like New Zealand will be years behind, from my research have found that the real problem seems to be the lack of understanding and intolerance of AS/autism from society in general, often feeling excluded. I usually say to people who do not understand "if I was in a wheelchair would you still discriminate against me the way you do now!"

Who does it affect, it has no class or race barriers, its invisible and among us all. Except we often keep the fact hidden, to some it's a shameful secret that's if we know!. I am intellectually disadvantaged, have learning disorders and yes I am on the autism spectrum, you could say I have an invisible disability.

Please speak out and help the world understand...

there should be,that would be good...lots of gifts.

world autism awareness day/month was on the crappy programme-This morning in UK today, they had a mother with an autistic child on [he was aspie/HFautie] -he was not on the show but they showed a video of him, they also had a lady from the national autistic society on,speaking about autism spectrum as one autism with different needs-and speaking about the triad of impairments shared by all, thought it was good.
they did use the word sufferers to mean all autistics in one part,am know a lot dont like that,it could have come from the mother,as am do not watch tv with sound and follow skys teletext instead [which gets a bit messy].

doesnt look like they're putting it online, they've added all the video clips theyre going to add,the only thing they have about autism awareness is an old thing about helplines.
they could do so much more, yet not even add the bit about it onto their site?
They're rubbish.

the NAS has said this:
Quote:
On 2 April, the US news channel CNN is planning a full day of autism coverage. In the programme 'We have autism', to be shown at 5pm, CNN looks at some of the families living with the condition that affects an estimated 35 million worldwide. CNN reporters interviewed two clients from our Prospects employment service. Watch coverage on Sky 506, Virgin TV and CNN.com.

it's on right now and not over, have a look, its on adverts.

[edit]
crap,CNN doesnt do subtitles.not fair.

We have ASDs. What else do you need?

It's one hell of a gift:

it takes my voice away
it makes me mad
it stops me from working; it stops me from gaining an education (not that I care)
it allows me to shrug at the death of a child in front of me

Beautiful
