Interesting how these people scored highly on the Autism evaluations, but were not Autistic themselves.

I think this adds to the idea that the current list of "Autistic Traits" are not caused by Autism alone, or may share a similar pathology to Autism, as well as other conditions.

My guess is there are a lot of people who think they are Aspie's because of their Social functioning problems, but it turns out to be some other type of disfunction other then "Autism Proper".

It seems that there are physical charactoristics that accopany XXY that might also account for some of the social difficulties(as well as depression). A male having breasts and a small penis can have some pretty devestating effects when interacting with peers.

What they didn't state or test as far as I could tell, was if the XXY guys had non verbal communication difficulties which accounts for many of the problems of individuals with AS. Tow individuals can have the same "trait" caused by different factors.
I may gain weight because I have low thyroid or because I have other matabilism issue or even due to psychological "food addiction" but having a food addiction doesn't mean I HAVE a low thyroid just because they both result in weight gain.

Point being....just because these individuals have some autistic traits does not mean they are autistic. I thought it was also interesting that even the males with XXY who had received testostrone...it did not appear to make them have fewer traits. Perhaps it increased their traits? There is a theory...don't know if it is still believed, that autism is an " exagerated male traits".
Not that I believe this but, I do know that I always felt more male then female in many ways,(I'm female) but there are many males here who claim to feel more andrognes(not stereotypically macho).


Sooooo? I hope some autism expert doesn't read this and start jumping to conclussions that are based more on emotion then logic and more research to support it.
